The Marmara Park Avenue

114 East 32nd Street, New York - Map
My husband and I were celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary this October. We were looking for a quick getaway, but wanted something that would still be special. New York was not our first choice, but the tourist circuit of the Big Apple was definitely on the bucket list. We found this hotel through Expedia's excellent app. KUDOS to Expedia on the GREAT DEAL/DISCOUNT we got on the booking for this hotel! I absolutely love the book now and pay later option. The Marmara was simply an amazing location. It was like a resort in the city. It was so conveniently located within walking distance/quick subway ride of Time Square, premium shopping and Central Park. Also the surrounding restaurants and bars were lively and inviting. The room and accommodations were plush and luxurious. The turkish bath...sigh...amazing!! I NEVER would have done something like that, but my husband and I were definitely up to living a little. The room was so spacious, I just couldn't believe Manhattan would give such a huge room for so little. Upon check in, the staff upgraded our room just because! Thank you so much Randy! Everyone was so helpful and courteous. The bartender, Chris, introduced to me to my new love affair with "aviations" and "the last words". THANK YOU! The wonderful doorman ensured that we made it in a timely fashion to our off broadway show with gentle reminders too. For the price we paid, we got truly excellent service and great overnight experience. LOVE THE MARMARA!!

"For 50+ age group"
Excellent location for high-end boutique shopping, very nice staff. Once the renovation is completed, it will be again one of the top hotels in New York. Right now, the room price (by New York standards) is pretty fair, as the renovation is still ongoing and some occasional noise must be expected between 8 am and 5 pm. No such problems during the night though.

"Great hotel on 5th Avenue"
This hotel is located basically right in 5th Avenue and 55th street. It is within walking distance to the MOMA ( Museum of Modern Art, one of my favorite museums in Manhattan) and relatively close to the Theater district (10 min by Uber or cab). The staff is excellent and rooms and bathrooms nice and spacious, though it appears to be a bit older as a hotel (it has an inside staircase to reach the Lobby and the elevators are a bit older). . If you plan to stay in midtown Manhattan and do not want to stay at one of the mega- hotels it is a very good choice.

"Wonderful old lady"
Loved the Waldorf. It oozes old fashion charm and history. Stayed in a Tower Suite large and elegant room. Service is great and the staff are so helpful. Maybe because they also love the hotel. Go now as the hotel closes end of Feb. Shame on New York to allow this wonderful building to be dis spoiled.
