We saw this other 4x4 that had stopped to look at something so we approached it slowly and saw that there were a bunch of lions laying around in the high grass. The other guys told us they had been looking for a while but there was no activity, so they left. But we stayed, because we saw that there was a perfectly fine looking fig tree (the preferred kind of tree for tree climbing lions) just a short distance away. And what do you know – after a while they got up, stretched their legs, walked slowly up to the tree, and climbed up, one by one. It is the rainy season in Uganda and the dirt roads were tough. Also to get to the hotel you have to climb a lot of stairs so not for anyone who has mobility issues. We saw this other 4x4 that had stopped to look at something so we approached it slowly and saw that there were a bunch of lions laying around in the high grass. The other guys told us they had been looking for a while but there was no activity, so they left. But we stayed, because we saw that there was a perfectly fine looking fig tree (the preferred kind of tree for tree climbing lions) just a short distance away. And what do you know – after a while they got up, stretched their legs, walked slowly up to the tree, and climbed up, one by one.
