📜Some legends about the Northern Lights:

🇬🇷Anciente Greece: The words Aurora Borealis come from the Greek words “Aurora” meaning “sunrise”🌅 and “Boreas” meaning “wind”🌬️. For the ancient Greeks to have seen the lights there must have been some incredibly strong solar☀️ activity because sightings so far south are almost unheard of. The Greeks held that Aurora was the sister of Helios and Seline, the sun☀️ and moon🌕 respectively, and that she raced across the early morning sky🌌 in her multi-coloured🌈 chariot to alert her siblings to the dawning of a new day.

🇪🇺Southern Europe: It is very rare for the Northern Lights to appear over Southern Europe and such appearances require intense solar activity which usually results in red🔴 Auroras appearing in the night sky🌌. Not surprisingly, on the rare, rare occasions that they do appear, they cause quite a stir and, until fairly recently, were enough to terrify a populace unaware of the Aurora’s origin.
The poor residents of France🇫🇷 and Italy🇮🇹 for example believed the lights to be a bad omen heralding the outbreak of anything from war to plague🐀 and death💀. In Scotland🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and England🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, the skies are said to have blazed red🔴 just a few weeks prior to the French Revolution⚔️ and were later considered to have been a sign of the coming revolution in their neighbour state.

🇨🇳Ancient China: Auroral sightings in China are also rare and would have been caused by a significant solar☀️ event so unsurprisingly, the ancient Chinese were in awe of the lights that sporadically illuminated their night sky🌌.
It is said that many of the early Chinese legends associated with dragons were a result of the Northern Lights. The belief is that the lights were viewed as a celestial battle between good and evil dragons🐉 who breathed fire🔥 across the firmament.

« Incroyable expérience au radisson blu de tromso ! J’ai fêter l’anniversaire de mon mari, ils ont un service d’extra et ont pu me mettre des ballons et m’on fait une magnifique décoration et cerise sur le gâteau, ils ont pu nous surclasser !!! Mille merci au personnel de la réception et du petit déjeuner en passant par les femmes de chambres ils ont tous été aux petits soins et adorable. « Il y a 2 parties à St Elizabeth : l’hôtel et les appartements où nous étions en juillet L’appartement (grand) est très agréable, de beaux volumes, très bien équipé, la literie de qualité supérieure pour le lit et le canapé-lit. Pour notre cas, notre deuxième appartement n’avait pas de meuble de rangement pour les vêtements mais une grande entrée. La salle du petit déjeuner est au dernier étage avec vue panoramique sur la ville, le fjord et le port - Exceptionnel et le petit déjeuner aussi. Et...

« Die Vermietung laüft über eine zwischengeschaltete Plattform die zwar die Reservierung bestätigt hst aber dennoch auf den eigentlichen Vermieter verweist hat um die Ankunftdetails zu erfahren. Der Vermieter reagierte nicht auf E-Mails und so musste ich ein teueres Telefongespräch nach Norwegen tätigen um vom Vermieter den Eingangscode der Wohnung zu erfahren. Bis zum schluss, waren wir uns nicht sicher, was wir vorfinden würden. Am Tag der Abfahrt habe ich wieder den Vermieter versucht zu...

« Ekkerøya er et fantastisk utgangspunkt for å oppleve Varanger med bil. Huset ligger på tarmen ut mot øya, midt mellom to flotte strender. Perfekt med et forfriskende bad i Varangerfjorden før en økt i badstua. Strendene konkurrerer med verdens beste, mens like bortenfor ligger Havhesten som er en sjarmerende familierestaurant drevet sommerstid. Selve huset er enkelt, men rent og pent, med det meste av utstyr en trenger. Hyggelig kommunikasjon. Anbefaler en tur til Bugøynes og Hamningberg. »

➡️A couple of weeks I wrote a caption explaining the Northern Lights from a scientific view👨‍🔬, now it is time for the legends surrounding this amazing spectacle:

📜According to one legend, Odin, the chief god and ruler of Asgard, lived in Valhalla, where he was preparing for Ragnarök. This event was predestined and would be Odin’s greatest battle⚔️, so he needed the bravest warriors at his side. During every battle on Earth, Odin would pick the warriors who would die and join him in Valhalla. The Valkiries👸 were female warriors on horseback. who wore armour and carried spears and shields🛡️, were tasked with leading Odin’s chosen warriors to Valhalla. The Vikings believed the Northern Lights🌌 illuminating the sky were the reflections of the Valkyrie’s armour🛡️ as they led the warrior to Odin.

📜In several other legends, they claim the Northern Lights🌌 were the breath of brave soldier who died in combat or they were believed to be the Bifrost Bridge🌈, a glowing, pulsing arch which led fallen warriors to the their final resting place in Valhalla.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦But for the Sámi people, the Northern Lights🌌 didn’t tell stories of heroism and bravery, they believed that they were the souls of the dead💀, and they were to be feared and respected in equal measure, so you shouldn’t talk🗣️ about them or even waving👋, whistling😗 or singing🎶 under them, as this would alert the lights to your presence and carry you up to the sky⬆️. Nowadays, many Sámi people stay in their homes🏠 when the Northern Lights are illuminating the sky🌌.

"Incroyable expérience au radisson blu de tromso ! J’ai fêter l’anniversaire de mon mari, ils ont un service d’extra et ont pu me mettre des ballons et m’on fait une magnifique décoration et cerise sur le gâteau, ils ont pu nous surclasser !!! Mille merci au personnel de la réception et du petit déjeuner en passant par les femmes de chambres ils ont tous été aux petits soins et adorable. Le petit déjeuner est variés il y’a du salé du sucré et petit plus il y a un grand choix de produit sans gluten ainsi qu’une machine à café avec du lait d’avoine ce qui est un vrai plus ! La localisation de l’hôtel est parfaite nous étions à côté de tout ce qui a pu faciliter notre séjours en évitant de louant une voiture. Je recommande à tout le monde cet hôtel qui a su être un bien fou pour fêter l’anniversaire de mon mari merci pour cette expérience inoubliable."
