"Lots to do on Kaanapali beach!!"
This is our second visit to Maui and our second stay at the Kaanapali Alii. The condos are spacious, clean, well equipped, and the area is quiet and safe. Enjoyed walking the beach path behind all the hotels. The staff are kind and helpful. Will definitely come back to Kaanapali Alii for our third visit. Thank you!!!

"Attentive staff, beautiful grounds"
Our family of four (boys 10 & 13) stayed here for spring break and had a great time. The food at the restaurants was delicious--not a bad meal anywhere. The only long line we encountered was at Starbucks in the morning but they were very efficient and it was spring break after all. We played in two of the three pool locations--all lovely. We learned too late that the weekly rental for snorkel gear was cheaper through this hotel than through the nearby online-favorite snorkel store. The waves were rough on this whole line of beach but plenty of kids and adults were still in the water, often boogie boarding. Still, tons of great sand to dig in. The best snorkeling we experienced was right off the beach in front of the hotel (not the touted Black Rock or Napili beaches). Lots of coral so lots of fish. Food options within walking distance are essentially limited to hotels (though every meal was great) and they come with the tourist-resort priced tag. However, the outdoor mall called Whalers Village down the beach has four modestly priced and tasty options in their food court plus lots of other high and lower end stores.

"Beautiful hotel. Bring your wallet."
Our villa was very nice, perfect for our needs. The facilities were beautiful. The food in the restaurants was horrible and very expensive - stale chips, over cooked fish, meat we couldn't eat. I ordered a Thai noodle with vegetable dish that was $20 of mush; over cooked vegetables on a huge bed of tasteless noodles. $44 for two chairs and an umbrella at the beach. Chairs in the shade at the pool cost money to use. $55 for the first hour to rent a paddle board, then $35/hr after that. After a few days we went into town to have lunch and made our own breakfast and dinner.

"Review of Hyatt resort and spa."
The hotel was beautiful and the staff were incredible . I just didn't like the imposed $30 fee daily for the use of the gym And spa , whether you use the facility or not and the daily parking fee was crazy too . $18 for self park and $28/day for valet . For what you pay nightly parking should be included . We did have a wonderful vacation .!

"Great Hotel, awesome views, subpar front staff"
Unfortunately...their front desk staff is subpar. I'm tired from the flight. I'm expecting my room to be set. I booked "Ocean View"but this particular front desk lady (will not mention her name), kept telling me about rooms that didnt have the "ocean view" that I paid for. She kept on saying,"This room is an upgrade" Pointing to a room at the side of the hotel which gives me a "partial ocean view". I told her I don't need your upgrade, then she started to show me a room with the ocean in the front but at the level of the tops of the Palm trees!! This lady is horrible. I had enough of her, so I demanded to speak with someone else...who finally gave me good service and put us on the 8th floor with an awesome view. It's unfortunate I felt that I had to fight for the room that I paid a large amount of money for. Lesson: VERIFY your room before booking here, because the subpar staff will try to put you in undesirable hotel rooms. I'm just glad everything after turned out great and we had one of the best family vacations ever. - Maui is breathtaking.

"Marriott ocean club"
Great location on the south end of kaanapali beach. Was an easy to walk up to whalers village for dinner or to the Sheraton for snorkeling and cliff jumping. Was only $8 for an uber to downtown Lahaina. Only complaint was that some things which could be complimentary had a rental fee (beach chairs, basketballs for the pool, boogie boards)

Pocket Guide: Maui Island Kaanapali 4 stars Green / Sustainable Hotels

Kaanapali is a prime vantage point for viewing humpback whales, which swim by December to May. The town’s whaling history is displayed at Whaler’s Village, a shopping complex and museum. Visitors also can experience the area’s farming past by riding the Sugar Cane Train, a restored steam locomotive. Snorkelers and divers can enjoy the coral reefs and fish that thrive in nearby Black Rock Beach.
