Could not have been more pleased. One of the loveliest bar areas ever. Great dining in house. Super close to everything. Coaches (buses) to Heathrow and Gatwick are less than a block away.

Hawkwell House Hotel

Church Way, Oxford - Map
We have stayed here many times over the years, the hotel is convenient to the city, the river walk, friendly, quiet, well in fact all you would want for your stay. but I have to say that over the past two / three visits we have noticed a slight decline in the standard. There are slight stains on some walls both in rooms and corridors, chipped paint, small stains on carpets, frayed edges on carpets and this time we had stains on the bed throw. general wear and tear that needs to be addressed now before it gets worse. Bathrooms are lovely though. the garden is great for kids to run around safely. Breakfast could be better, served on white plates with no thought to presentation just always looks bland, however the quality is fine. Reception staff are very helpful and friendly, always have been. Breakfast, if you bring a guest is quite expensive for what you get at £14.95. Don't read this as a negative review because it is not intended that way, the hotel just needs a freshen up. Will we stay here again? Yes we will.

"Escaping routine for one night away."
We stayed as we journeyed from Eastbourne to visit Blenheim Palace on the next day. The Hotel was easy to find and of modern pleasant design. the staff were good to us and we were grateful not to have to go out again to find a cooked dinner. The evening was quiet and breakfast excellent. thank you everyone.

"Lovely hotel and location"
We stayed in the converted barn outside, really comfortable great beds which seemed longer than average. Well presented and comforable furniture(TV a little small) The wet room bathroom is suitable for wheelchairs but just as nice for ourselves. The breakfast was excellent local produce very good. The staff are welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. A beautiful location able to walk in the surrounding countryside which is very quiet. I would higly recommend and will also be returning ourselves

"Great hotel, varied staff"
We arrived early (around 10 am) as we were to spend the whole day in Oxford and wanted to make sure the hotel knew we were coming. The woman on reception was unhelpful: she told us we were too early to check-in and, when we wanted to check that we had a quiet room as requested, she simply told us she did not know - which was disappointing. That evening we returned to find Bhusashm. What a contrast to the morning: he was the most polite, helpful and friendly receptionist I have come across in a long time. He made us feel very welcome and made sure we had all the information we required and was just all-round excellent. Breakfast is expensive but the services next door provide plenty of choice. The room was plenty big enough, very clean and bright. Even the towels smelt fresh (unlike a lot of 3 or 4 star hotels). The only slight niggle was a nosy extractor fan in the bath room. Next morning on check out we had the same woman as the day before. Notably she did not bother to ask us if we had enjoyed our stay or if he were any problems with the room. I volunteered information about the noisy fan but she dismissed my concerns saying “it turns off after a while”! If you get to stay in room 142 and the extractor fan is still noisy, you can tell reception that this was reported on 20 September. If you are lucky, you will get Bhusashm!

"Nice hotel very close to pear tree park and ride"
Free parking, very reasonably priced bar menu and Starbucks coffee on site. We didn't have time to visit the pool or spa, as we headed into Oxford itself.
