"Friendly hotel with staff could speak good English"
It was really not easy for a not Vietnamese-speaker to seek help in Hanoi. This hotel surprised me. The sweet lady at concierge could speak fluent English. She was nice and helped me enthusiastically when I first set foot in Hanoi. Besides, the massage in the hotel was way above standard. I had 60 minutes full body massage plus 60 minutes facial in treatment center. I was a bit late when I got the service so the therapist worked late for me. But she still paid good affort and took care of every part of skin and muscle on my body. My money was well spent!

"Great little hotel. Wifi connection was strong."
Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast better than adequate. Room was very clean and for an individual plenty of space. The location is very convenient for those who want the centre of the Old City. My room, without a window was very quiet and comfortable. I would stay there again and recommend it to my friends.

"Nice hotel in a lane near St Joseph's Cathedral. "
I stayed here with my daughter for one week. The hotel is in a great location being 5 minutes walk from Hoan Kiem Lake and the surrounding hustle and bustle of central Hanoi. The rooms were very clean and pleasantly decorated. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming and in particular I would like to thank Phillip and Ha who were excellent in their service and friendliness to us. After being there for a week we were sad to leave as it felt like a stay in a home with friends. It was easy to organize tours (we went overnight to Sapa and then another trip to Tam Coc (which is stunning and my favourite this trip)) at the hotel which went well. I've also previously been to Halong Bay which, along with Tam Coc, would have to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. The buffet breakfast at the hotel was pleasant and the view from the rooftop restaurant is very pretty. The few minor issues we had (my tv signal was faulty, I wanted extra pillows, I wanted my daugter moved to a nicer room) were all fixed promptly. Well done everyone at Hotel Dahlia!

"Just ok"
All the good things first. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The staff at the front reception were always available with information and advice when needed. The doorman was always welcoming when we wandered in and out of the hotel at all hours and in finding our luggage when we lost our luggage slip. The breakfast staff were always smiling and ready to make us all feel comfortable as soon as we sat down. The hotel facilities were a little dissapointing. Firstly the hotel has rooms without windows. The rooms with windows which we paid extra for overlook what appears to be a factory roof. If i had known this i probably wouldn't have bothered with the window. The water temperature in the shower is either scoulding hot or ice cold. The alarm on the door, which of course is a good idea for the sake of security, goes of unpredictably when we are in the room and just as we close the door. The batteries in the safe went of in two of the rooms during our two day stay and it required staff to eventually come in and take items out of the safe. The rooms are small. There is no outside space, no courtyard orcgarden. There is a very small swimming pool on the top floor which is shut by 10.00pm. The room is a little too small small for two people. I would describe it as series of small characterless boxes.

"Simple and convenient"
We chose the hotel because we were arriving late and leaving the next morning at 8am. As it turned out our flight was delayed until a 2 am arrival at the hotel, which was in darkness and locked. Staff were asleep near reception and were very helpful in booking us in and getting bags to our room. Our " penthouse suite" was two floors down and had a view on to a solid wall about two metres away over a narrow alleyway. Breakfast was simple and tasty. Staff stored our luggage for 36 hours safely.

Pocket Guide: Hanoi Hoan Kiem 3 stars Hotels

The atmospheric, narrow streets of Hanoi's Hoan Kiem have much to offer travelers, including history museums, temples, and water puppet theatre. Hoan Kiem Lake features its own temple, 8th century Jade Mountain Temple, as well as a small tower, built on an islet to honor the lake's legendary giant tortoise. The lake is also a great spot for people watching or relaxing with a book.
