"Pleasant, Humble Hotel"
My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we really liked it. Our "room" was essentially a condo with one bedroom and TWO full bathrooms, which was convenient. It had a full kitchen too, which was nice so we didn't have to eat out every single meal during our trip. The living room area was spacious and our lanai was a nice spot to chill and watch the ocean crash against the rocks. I saw other reviews complaining about the rooms and furnishings being old/outdated. This may be true, but everything was clean and still in good condition. If you're not hung up on having fancy decor then you can get a good deal staying here. One other caveat: we used this hotel as a place to crash at night and in between activities while enjoying all that the Big Island has to offer. If you're just looking for a resort-style hotel to hole up in, or a hotel already on the beach, then this is probably not a good fit for you.

"Pretty setting"
The condos were roomy, comfortable and clean. The only exception would be the couch was not very comfortable - flat cushions. The poolside cafe had good food and great drinks, not to mention a very friendly staff, especially breakfast. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the island.

"Pretty Good"
Nice amenities but no blanket for couch bed. Room was freezing. Back sliding door was never locked and we didn't find out until the last day.

"Unforgettable Stay :)"
My stay here was great, the staff was very nice. The hotel had many activities and the scenery was breathtaking. It was also close to many beaches and awesome restaurants and shops. I stayed there for about a week and every day was amazing, I will definitely be returning!

"Aston Shores at Waikoloa, Unit 11- 202"
This was our second stay at the Shores. The grounds and pool area have been well-maintained and are still lovely. Parking was plentiful and convenient to our unit. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, as were the maintenance folks (they promptly responded to an issue with our laundry closet door.) We stayed in building 11, unit 202. The unit was on the second floor and was large and clean with a great lanai, which we enjoyed very much. Overall condition of the unit was decent. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable. The living area furnishings appeared to be more suited for outdoors (seating was uncomfortable and sofa too small to stretch out on.) The kitchen needed updating - appliances appeared to be worn out (inside of dishwasher rusted, loud compressor on the fridge, cracked microwave door) and the cabinets were pretty beat up. Kitchen provisions also weren't great (we wound up purchasing our own skillets and tupperware as well as coffee filters, basic spices, etc.) We were a bit frustrated with the wireless (very slow with limited range.) As others noted, foot traffic can be heard above - we had a heavy footed woman staying above us who liked to stomp around at all hours of the night (I wound up leaving a note on her door.) Overall, we enjoyed the property and would probably stay again - however we would likely go with a third floor or villa unit and rent directly from an owner so we know what we're getting up front.

"Great place to stay with larger families"
Great place to stay especially with a family of 6. We had a unit with 2 bedrooms with king size beds and a pull out couch in the living room. The unit also had 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, an outside dinning table, and a washer and dryer in one of the bathrooms. The jet soaker tub was a plus in the master bedroom. The morning we checked out they told us that we could still use the pool and that they would give us a room to shower in if needed. Wishing walking distant to beach and shops.

"Close to amenities and restaurants."
Nice spot. We got some pretty crazy weather so we probably didn't get out as much in the area as we'd have liked. Great to wander out by the shoreline and watch just sealife in the little rock pools. Convenient to wander out and get meals (if you don't want to take a car out constantly)

"Good value condo near beach"
Picked this condo mostly due to price. Traveling with family made having a kitchen for breakfast a must to save some $$$. Condo had a washer and dryer in it which was a pleasant surprise as most places don't have that. Kitchen was stocked with all the stuff needed to cook, all you need to buy is whatever you want to prepare to eat. Room was nice and had an ocean view. Another great thing about this condo was the location, you are able to walk a few minutes and be right in the middle of shops and food.

"Older, but still a good place to stay"
Check-in and Check-out were fast and staff were pleasant. The location in relationship to shopping & tourist district is excellent. Although it is not the newest property, for the most part it is in good repair and it is kept clean. Room was kept clean and housekeeping did a good job of tidying up the room and restocking towels, etc. everyday. Only ate the full breakfast there once. It was a good selection, but too expensive for light eaters. On a positive note, my better half went another morning and came back to the room with a small take-out container of fruit for a very reasonable price. Pool area was clean and relaxing, but could use a bit more shade umbrellas. The Salt Water lagoon had better shade, but we didn't use it much as the water was low (tide out) most of the time that we had time to be there. It is also a little rocky. Ordered Nachos at the bar a few times to take back to the room. They accommodated modifications to the dish without any hassle. It was a good sharing dish, so price per person was quite reasonable. We had no regrets about our decision to stay here. We did not have a car, so no parking issues/charges. We did not have time to take in the Luau, but we walked by a couple times and it looked good. Wish we could have tried it first hand. Stayed 7 nights. Tried for late check-out, but unfortunately (for us) they were fully booked and needed the room.
