"Walking distance into the Centre, internal noise."
Hotel is about 10-15 walk to shopping centre or red light district. No noise from outside the hotel but the floorboards are really creaky so you hear everyone pass your room. Staff are friendly and informative.

"Close to the city sites"
The hotel was in a nice location, easy access to the city sites & tour places like the museum & the Heineken Factory tours, boat canal tours are only a very short distance to walk to and the red light district tourist walk is also close for those who are interested (although it is very crowded) The hotel is old however we ended up with a small room due a large amount of advance bookings made. ( if you book early! then you will get a larger room. We had a pleasant comfortable stay. Thank you to the staff. Natalia from Dnipropetrovs'k Ukraine & Adrian from Perth Western Australia

"Second visit does not disappoint"
After visiting some 6 years ago, after it was newly opened , we came back with adult child and partner. Some area are starting to look a little tired - but nothing a fresh coat of paint here and there wouldn't solve. But the soul of the hotel is still the same: Young informal friendly staff, a very cosy and welcoming lounge with open fire and bar, and great music. The location is great for Amsterdam: the old town centre/ Central Station is walkable at some 30 Min. and there are excellent public transport connections with Tram No. 4 servicing the town center, stopping some 150 yards from the front door and never more than a 10 min. wait for the next one.

"Amsterdam Weekend"
We arrived a little early (Check in 1500) the room was not ready, We left our luggage with the concierge, the reception desk was efficient but not friendly. The room when we got there, we had expected a queen size bed, we got two singles pushed together, I reported that the reading light on one side did not work, it still didn't when we left. There is some noise inter room, could hear the neighbours talking. Tea and coffee supply was sporadic and had to ask reception for top ups of tea and milk. The location of the hotel is perfect, just 200 meters from Rembrandt Square, easy walking distance to many attractions.

"Wonderful canal fronted house."
Pleasantly surprised to have booked a room in a house, rather than a hotel.Tea and coffee making facilities provided. The compact, shower and toilet were right next door but not en suite which was not a problem as the other room on our floor was unoccupied but may have been less pleasant if we had had to share, the water was warm rather than hot but the house was clean throughout. We could have upgraded if we had wished but chose not too. We had access to a roof terrace through one of two sky lights which whilst making the room bright, would have been pleasant in summer but was in fact noisy in heavy rain fall, luckily only one nights worth. Apart from the original, charming but very tight staircase the interior was crisp and modern, lacking perhaps the period charm of the exterior, but you can't have everything at little more than 100 euros per night. The owner was friendly and helpful and unobtrusive

Pocket Guide: Amsterdam Canal Ring 3 stars Hotels

The classic Amsterdam image of stately canals, the Canal Loop is principally the Herengracht and Keizersgracht, lined with gracious tall 17th and 18th-century houses. Some of these are now museums, most notably the eccentric Kattenkabinet. The Amstel is a more down-to-earth waterway, lined with houseboats and famous for its classic much–photographed Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The floating Flower Market is also a much-loved canal feature.
