"Close to the nice Ueno Park"
Comfortable and quite spacious room, futon bedding proved pretty good night's sleep. Although staff speaks only little English it is enough to communicate, very helpful. Great localization for Ueno Park and surrounding shrines as well as temples. Close to restaurants and main shopping street. Would recommend it for a couple.

"Nice little place to stay"
For the price and location it's a great little place. It's not fancy but the rooms are clean and there's A/C if you need it. The private bathroom is small but that's to be expected. I recommend though going the Japanese way and taking a bath in the communal bathroom. It's a great experience. If you want breakfast there you have to let them know the night before and if you want western or Japanese style. Apparently both are really good. I personally suggest to just venture out and find a local joint. You can eat for cheaper. Though the breakfast is only ¥850 about. If you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the young areas of Japan I suggest here.

"Very nice and convenient hotel"
I stayed overnight at the Hotel Yamayuri. My flight was delayed and I arrived after midnight at the hotel and was scared that the desk was closed, but hotel staff was still there. The hotel is very close to Ueno station and the rooms are nice and tidy.

"Close to train station, shops and town attraction"
You get more than you pay for. It comes with all the amendities you needed. The only thing it lacks is a lift. But there are only two floors to go up. There were no man with us so the staff helped us with the luggage.

"Location"
The location was a 10 minute walk to Ueno station and the Keisei skyliner from Narita airport. Quiet residential area but only 3 blocks (3 min walk) to 7/11 and food outlets. Asakusa was a 20 min walk straight up the street. Would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. Reception rang for our tour to confirm and also booked taxi for the next day, tea, coffee readily available , but no housekeeping which never bothered us at all.

Pocket Guide: Tokyo Ueno 2 stars Hotels

This area offers a glimpse of what life was like before the economic boom of the 1970s and 1980s. Neighboring Asakusa, it is best known for the Ameya-yokocho Arcade, a busy market with interesting stalls. Ueno-koen, a sprawling park with monuments, zoo, pagodas, and a pond, is a must-do. Museums and galleries abound in the area.
