"Big rooms"
The first thing that stuck us about the Red Horse Inn was the size of our room, it was very large. We went to Boardwalk at Disney last year, spent 7x the amount and the room wasn't nearly as large. It was the first time we went to Cape Cod and I was going by restaurant suggestions I found on a local photographer's blog. When I asked with the proprietor at Red Horse, who was very nice, about some of these restaurants she was great. She was honest and let us know that some of the places I had listed were not really family establishments but more for the younger crowd, something I would have no way of knowing. She in turn suggested some wonderful restaurants. The location was great for us. Not smack in the middle of town but close to it and to the beaches and anything we wanted to do. The charming continental breakfast was just right. The muffins were delicious. We would definitely go back.

"Convenient last minute near ferry"
My 19 year old daughter was traveling back to Martha's Vineyard and was supposed to arrive in Logan and take Peter Pan bus to Woods Hole, MA and take the 8:30 ferry to the Vineyard. Due to storms up and down the East coast she did not arrive in Boston until 9 pm. All hotels in Boston were sold out plus she had to work the next day. So I used Weymouth Taxi (terrific)'to bring her to Falmouth and booked hotel so she could walk to Island Queen ferry. When she landed the desk clerk, Louise, called her and asked if she was 21 to which she replied no I am 19. Louise told her then she could not stay at the hotel. After a day of traveling and delays and stress my daughter burst into tears. Terrible customer service! I called and spoke to Loiuse, who was very rude. Eventually I spoke to the manager, Maureen, who was terrific and assured me my 19 year old could stay with a simple email from me. Apparently Louise was not very nice to my daughter upon arrival or check out. Time to replace the front desk person. The hotel itself was small but a beacon needed in a stressful 24 hour trip. Thank you Maureen for your kindness.

Pocket Guide: Cape Cod Falmouth 2 stars Hotels

The Bourne and Sagamore bridges cross the Cape Cod Canal, linking the mainland and Cape. Sandwich, located by the canal, preserves its heritage as the Cape’s oldest town. Falmouth, a quintessential New England town, is flanked by Buzzards Bay and the Nantucket Sound. The Nobska Light sits at the tip of this peninsula in Woods Hole, a hub for oceanic research and home to an aquarium and ferry port.
