Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Boston Garden - Boston Hotels
Rating: 2.5 Stars

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Boston Garden

280 Friend Street, Boston - Map
"Good value, iffy neighborhood."
The hotel is very convenient, two blocks from the T, five minutes walk to the freedom trail, ten minute walk to Little Italy, near the Garden if that's your thing. The block is kinda iffy and in fact I almost drove right past the hotel as it doesn't quite look like what I expect from Holiday Inn. Close-by restaurants are mostly sports bars. I was there college shopping with my 15-year-old who found the block and bars a bit scary. I'm used to NYC, and if that's your reference point you'll be comfortable. Remember, Little Italy is close and much more kid-friendly. Room very comfortable, big, clean. Wifi of dial-up quality, if that. Had to work in my room and couldn't get my corporate email to synch all the way. Like all hotels, you can turn on every light in the room and still be in twilight. Free breakfast is not bad - eggs, breakfast meat, toast, bagels, cereal, fruit. They had a pancake making machine that got us curious, but not enough to make one. Staff is excellent. To a person, friendly and helpful.

Harvard Square Hotel - Cambridge Hotels
Rating: 2.0 Stars

Harvard Square Hotel

110 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge - Map
"Middle of Harvard Square"
There is no better location in Cambridge for the price than the Harvard Square Hotel. A renovated landmark that doesn't look like much from the outside but is very nicely remodeled with all the comforts. And if you are on the side with a view of the Square, it can't be beat.

Global Luxury Suites at Fenway Park South

180 Brookline Avenue, Boston - Map
Only one key available. Check out time fixed at 11am Management is from a remote out of state by email and is non functioning. Plumbing had to be fixed on arrival This is not a luxury hotel it is 900 separate low cast rental apartments. Concierge said the company rules only allowed the contract holder access to the apartment. It took 1/2th an hour for here to negotiate entry Good value, but very very odd management style.. .

Lakeside Inn

595 North Ave, Wakefield - Map
"Great location"
Beautiful lake views from rooms and dining room where the hot breakfast included in room fee is served. Close to grocery stores and other shops/restaurants. Easy to find and get to from I-95. Park down the street overs 3.5 mile loop around lake. Many walkers out and about. They are undergoing renovations currently so hopefully some of the needed upgrades (like a hook for your towel or bath robe in bathroom) can be added then. Would stay here again.
