"Cool hotel upper west side"
I really enjoyed my stay at the NYLO. The bed was a nicely firm (too firm for hubby, just right for me), and the shower was fantastic. I had booked a lifestyle loft but was upgraded to the penthouse upon check-in. The penthouse was nice with a balcony off both the bedroom and the living room. Both balconies had comfortable seating. All staff were attentive and friendly. The lobby bar was cool with a garage feel to it.

"Such a nice quaint hotel, right off of Broadway. "
The hotel staff were gracious (not overbearing), the room was perfect, the bathroom (had a weird smell) but was fine, the view of 77th & Bway was perfect, the 1 train was a block away. Great hotel

"For happy adventurers who aren't picky"
Staff is exceptional but be aware that this is an old hotel with very limited services. No coffee, microwave or fridge in the room, however, staff will store your small items in a staff fridge, and there is a Starbucks next door. Expect a lot of noise (doors opening and closing, creaking floorboards overhead, little soundproofing between rooms). No elevators but plenty of staff to help with luggage due to this. Bed linens are updated but pillows can be thin and uncomfortable. My room was cold but staff provided a space heater since hotel heating is centralized. Fixtures old and worn. Carpet is suspect. My first room overlooked a brick wall. Lighting in the rooms is poor. Bring your own washcloth. However, I felt very safe in this hotel as a single woman traveling in NYC alone. It is situated in the Upper West Side near subway stations and great restaurants and grocery stores including health food stores. Other hotel stayers were happy, friendly. When I complained about noise I was moved to a larger, quieter room without hesitation. This is a traveler friendly place and exceptional staff. They make the stay worth it.

"Well-priced hotel for a week in New York"
This is a well-located hotel for a trip to New York for a couple - the room I was in was big enough to comfortably move around in with two big suitcases, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the bathroom was pretty large and everything worked. The front desk staff were helpful with transfers and things, which is good for getting back to the airport. They also have facilities for holding your baggage for free after checkout, which we found really handy for our last day. In general this is a place to sleep comfortably in a good, safe part of the city in between days of exploration. It's located a pretty short walk from Central Park (you go in about halfway up) and two subway stations, which made getting to/from other parts of Manhattan and beyond a breeze. Locally there are some standard places to pick up drinks and food (though Barney Greengrass' is nearby and is worth a visit). This was a good hotel, that contributed to a fun 8 days exploring NYC and the price is very reasonable for the city.

"Best yet"
We have been visiting NY for a number of years and always stay in the upper west side. Have used numerous hotels and found this to be the best we have stayed at and really the best for the price. Will always stay there from now on.

"Comfortable hotel on the Upper West Side"
The hotel is comfortable, and in a good location. The room was large enough for our two beds, but barely. We had a bit of a problem with parking. The hotel advertises a relationship with the ParkRight garage a couple of blocks away on 96th St. I made a reservation there on-line, and then called to make sure I could take the car out on a day in the middle of our stay. The guy on the phone said fine. But when I arrived, the guy at the garage said no. Initially, the hotel desk clerks were not very helpful. But one did eventually call the garage for me, and apparently a call was made to a superviser, and it got straightened out. So yes, I was able to take the car out with no extra charge. Another annoyance was to have the clock radio alarm in the room go off at 6 AM our first morning. Apparently the last occupant of the room had set it. I guess I should have checked it myself upon arrival. But that seems like something the housekeeping staff should have checked.

Excellent staff, well run hotel ,nice breakfast, FANTASTIC LOCATION. One of the few remaining affordable and nice hotels in NYC. Some annoying construction noise but that goes with the territory!

"Great place to be on the Upper West Side"
Very good location for access to Central Park and museums. Nice to be in a neighborhood rather than a tourist center. Easy access to all parts of the city via public transportation.
