Hotel Dalì

Via Dell Oriuolo 17, Florence - Map
"Friendly, relaxing, excellent location"
So glad I stayed at the Hotel Dali! It was great to be so central, right by the Duomo in the midst of 'everything' one would want to see, and close to many excellent places to eat. Room was comfortable, good size, and spotlessly clean. Good Wifi too. Hotel staff were incredibly helpful with suggestions as to what to see and the best way to do so, and keeping my bags after checkout so I had the morning to continue sight-seeing without having to carry them around. I will definitely be back!

Pensione Canada

Borgo San Lorenzo 14, Florence - Map
"Florence Travels"
Admittedly my wife and l were somewhat apprehensive as we ascended 2 flights of concrete stairs although it went away as we entered the common area and we're greeted by a very welcoming host. We immediately noticed that our room and it's bathroom were a good size and very clean. In terms of a Pensione this hotel is excellent. It is located in the heart of the tourist area. My wish list would be for the management to install a quality WiFi system as even data access is very poor within the hotel. Some travelers may prefer TVS in the rooms.

"Overall Good Experience"
My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights. The owner was very hospitable, as his wife was traveling in the US. He made sure we had everything we needed. The hotel is older in a classic Italian style with high ceilings and marble floors and steps. I enjoyed the upper terrace for relaxing and having wine one evening. The hotel itself was very quiet , but a lot of street noise coming in during the night through our bedroom window. Enjoyed the fact that I could make coffee in the room each morning. We felt very safe there..

Hotel Cestelli

Borgo Santi Apostoli 25, Florence - Map
"Ponte Vecchio Close by"
This is the second time we have stayed at the Hotel Cestelli mostly because of location and the proprietors are the sweetest couple. We had forgotten that being so close to the action meant noise and lights. It is a lovely old villa and typifies old Florence. The rooms are pretty large and the beds aren't too bad, linens are nice. I find the European mattress to be kind of hard, as it was the same every where. It is clean as someplace this old can get I think. Could use some tile repairs in the bathroom. Spotty wi fi but use able They do not offer breakfast as some of the other places do but the location is unbeatable and the cost pretty reasonable. We paid less than 10 Euro cab fare from train station.

Hotel San Giovanni

"Location, location, location"
We stayed 2 nights in the Annex of the hotel, a smart base from which to explore this eminently walkable city. The hotel was a great bargain. It was indeed small but nonetheless clean & comfortable and suited us well. These are very old buildings, so the charm of the ancient must be something a guest desires. Otherwise, better to try something newer, with modern fixtures, at two and three times the cost. We had use of a common kitchen if we wanted. Overall, a great bargain. Making our stay a pleasant one was Umberto, the English-speaking Florentine manager whom we met at the hotel and who escorted us to the Annex. Umberto is quietly personable and helpful without being officious, just delightfully mannered. He gave us good restaurant recommendations and allowed us to keep our luggage at the hotel after checkout for as long as we wanted. And he showed us how to use the impossibly tiny elevator to get us and our bags up and down in several trips. "I am expert," he said. Yes he is.

"Typical bed and breakfast"
The room had two doubles pushed togethee to which i fell through in the middle of the night. No AC so we had the window open and mosquitos came in to feast on us. Breakfast had the typical options like everywhere and was decent. Shared bathrooms were ok but annoying when people pull on the handle until you tell them its occupied.

Via Ventisette Aprile, 14, Florence - Map
"good location for value"
The hotel is very simple. We had a room with private bathroom and air conditioning working good. bathroom that was fully remodeled. sheets and towels very clean and new. Mattress could be better. Remember this is one star hotel for Europe standards. If you want a clean, very good location and do n plan to spend time at hotel this is a good choice. Entrance to the building and elevator are old and rusty but you are in Firence, most properties are very old

Hotel Giappone

Via dei Banchi 1, Florence - Map
"Inexpensive room"
We got a room with a private shower which was worth it to us. The hotel is very close to all of the attractions and a 7 minute walk to the main train station. Of course the area is going to be busy since it is near the Duomo. The doors opened and closed pretty loud at night, we think oiling them would be best. You need to climb up 3 flights of stairs to get there with luggage, so people who can make the trip it is fine. We were greeted very nicely and the main lady in the hotel is VERY nice. ☺ The place is clean and a great price for the area, so if you can do stairs and don't mind hearing doors open and close at night then it is a good place to stay.

Hotel Scoti

Via de' Tornabuoni 7, Florence - Map
"Great location and people"
The owner couldn't be more helpful, rooms more clean, location more central (couple minutes to the river, walk to all the sights). The rooms are full of light (warning: no window screens), simple but comfortable. Loved this location because i could go out in the morning, come back to refresh or nap, then back out again. Or drop back by for a forgotten umbrella or sweater. The single with detached bath has a nice private bath down a few steps and thru a locked door--night wee-ers will have to hold on for a bit!
