"A lavish little slice of Manhattan"
A perfect spot to savor the extravagant side of NYC... just off of Central Park and in a beautiful renovated building. The team was attentive, professional and so sweet to me. Beautiful room, great amenities and a view to die for. Loved everything about the Sherry Netherland.

"Great location"
Staff was very helpful, we asked for a room on a high floor to avoid noises. Complimentary tea. The garden was going through some repairs and we couldn´t enjoy it.

"Venerable NYC Hotel. "
Aside from less than welcoming and gracious front desk (whose only response to any request was "no", hotel is lovely and rest of staff very helpful. Lovely rooms. Good food at restaurant. Bemelan's Bar, of course, is a landmark and wonderful spot for sophisticated folks.

"Landmark but the bar was terrible"
Hotel is not worth the price. The bar on top is reception is not great and needs upgrade. The room cleaning never takes the room service plates out when cleaning the room. Landmark hotel but needs improvement.

"Lovely hotel, great location"
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at AKA and would likely stay again. The location was outstanding, especially as this was our first trip to NYC. We liked the property and the staff were always helpful when we asked direct questions and never rude. Other than Miguel, who exemplified customer service, it always felt as if we had to "be curious" in order to find out things. Small examples are: we had no idea there was a cinema for guests (and only because we noticed the sign in the elevator) or that there were laundry facilities until we asked. After telling the front desk staff we'd never been the NYC before and after several "turn right, go two blocks, turn left" conversations, I finally asked "do you have a map?" This is not a complaint, just an observation. The room we stayed in was lovely and on the 12th floor. A blizzard had just come through days before so we couldn't use our little balcony, but on another stay I would have had morning tea out there every day if I could. Our mattress was a bit firm (probably newer), but nothing horrible. Two interesting things: hot water for the shower takes several minutes to get to the 12th floor and beware of deep tubs. I'm short (5 foot) and I have a balance issue. Climbing in and out of that tub/shower took a bit of careful maneuvering. On my next stay I might has for a room with a walk in shower or one of the ADA rooms instead. Hotel is currently under renovation and sometimes you can hear noise, but nothing outrageous.
