Not impressed with post renovation atmosphere
Hidden Ridge was always our first choice for accomodations in the mountains whether it was for a family getaway or a romantic weekend. We had stayed many times in the past PRIOR to them doing the renovations. Although the new hottub provides a really nice view, we were suprised upon checking in that we were told "you are allowed one drink in a plastic cup per guest". Looking out, we saw the hottub filled with young adults and more than one plastic cup floatiing in the hottub. It was way busier than usual in the hottub and not the relaxing atmosphere after a day of skiing, but rather noisy. We avoided it completely. Although underground parking was available, finding parking was very difficult and we ended up parking a fair distant from our room in which we had to carry our bags. Needless to say, although the chalet themselves are fantastic, the Hidden Ridge has lost a lot of its serene appeal in which it was so good at providing prior to the upgrades and renovations.

Great for Girls Night
We held a special book club in Banff and stayed here due to the large capacity rooms. There was more than enough sleeping room for everyone, but the living area didnt have enough comfortable seating for how many the room slept. I think there was one couch. Most of us sat around the kitchen table. The kitchen facility was well stocked and the beds were very comfortable. Some of the gals had a blast in the fantastic hot tub. Not the place to stay if you want to walk into town, but a great clean hotel with friendly staff.
With a fully stocked kitchen in some rooms, this would be great to subtract retaurant bills from a weekend ski trip.

A decent hotel, a great week in Banff
Hidden Ridge was a pretty good hotel. Very nice staff, very pretty views. The floors in our room were pretty gnarly, but the room was nice. They offered us an inexpensive upgrade to a loft room, and it was worth the money. The heated floors were awesome. It was -20c when we were there, so we really loved the heated tiles in the morning. We also enjoyed the fireplace on the day when our kids were sick and we got stuck inside. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel, with a location on the bus line to town, Hidden Ridge is a good one to consider.
Our trip started on thanksgiving weekend, and we took the lake tour boat on sunday. It was the next to last day of the season, and there were only 5 other people on the boat. It was absolutely great. The tour guide had a chance to talk directly with our kids as well as doing the spiel. The kids got to sit in the drivers seat with the captains hat. A very good experience. Worth the time and money. If you like quiet, seriously consider going during the shoulder between summer and winter. Banff is a great town.
