5 Star Hotel with a million dollar view
I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is going to Banff. The hotel staff were very accommodating and the concierge was extremely helpful scheduling excursions. The hotel location is approximately 2 miles from town and is a nice walk or you can take the bus that stops in front of the hotel. I would suggest using valet parking instead of self-parking. The fee is a little bit more but worth it. If we go back to Banff, we will definitely stay at the Fairmont Banff Springs.

Discovery Hotel
We stayed at the Banff Springs Hotel because of an advertised deal. We had visited in the past, but never stayed there before mostly because of cost. All staff were great and very accomodating. From check in to check out. The hotel itself is a great place to explore. They have enormous rooms for conferences, wedding receptions, etc. Not all rooms were dressed for public use though. ie the Conservatory seemed more of a place for old furniture storage than guest use. Meals in the hotel are a bit overpriced IMHO. We were told by friends that we should take in the lunch buffet, but didnt realize how expensive it was until we were there. The food was good. No complaints there. Tips and grats are included which was appreciated (unless you chose to tip above & beyond). We liked exploring the buidling, but the scenery pulled us outside more.

Quite noisy
If you are looking for a good night of sleep, be aware that the Calgary proll puts up in this hotel watching hotel movies all night, at 7 am when ski people get up for shower you think you are the one taking one in your bed - the rooms are too noisy. Needed a couple of days to recover from that stay.
