This is a very nice complex of a country inn and some self-catering cottages in a beautiful location on the Cabot trail. The restaurant offerings are superb. The central area in the lodge has great charm.

Fantastic get-away on the Cabot Trail.
A fabulous ending for a quick trip to Nova Scotia. The Chanterelle Country Inn & Cottages was perfect for us. The staff were friendly and engaging, very comfortable rooms that were very quiet. The food was an unexpected surprise. We had a number of excellent meals on our trip, but this was, hands down, the best meals we had, executed perfectly with wonderful ingredients. Even if you are not staying at the Inn, if you are in the area for breakfast or dinner, it is worth the visit.

Excellent food and outstanding customer service!
This is a well-maintained bed and breakfast on the edge of the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton. New owners have just taken over this country inn and are making updates and renovations to an already well-established lodge and restaurant. The decorations and furniture need some replacement, but the food is delicious--available for both breakfast and dinner--and the setting is stunning. The new owners went out of their way to meet all of our needs and beyond. We had a fantastic stay and will return here when we next visit Nova Scotia!

Wife loved, me not!
My wife would rate this stay a 11 out of 10. Not me! No AC, no TV, wifi spotty to none. She loved the ambience. Sitting at breakfast looking out at the Cabot trail, the humming birds feeding, Good food etc. Me, upset with booking a room and then finding out there's an extra $45 for "extra guest"!!!! Apparently it's only 1 person per room!! So leave your wife, husband, partner, other, to sleep in the car!! Cash grab?

Chanterelle is a well kept secret. it is fine dining at its best and the Inn has comfortable rooms or cottages for overnight accommodations. The picturesque setting and welcoming hosts make this a very special place.

We stayed in a cabin. It had everything we needed to stay and enjoy our two days there. Kitchen stocked with everything…..dishes, toaster, microwave, oven, etc. Only problem was with wifi service. But you can go a short way to Timmy’s in Baddeck for good service.

The hospitality was great, the food fabulous. The hummingbirds were a bit of a distraction from the fabulous veranda view, but easily tolerable.

The location was wonderful. We watched a bald eagle in a tree across the way which was way cool. The food was excellent. The bed was uncomfortable and the hot water ran out mid shower.

And less then optimal hot water. Unfortunately,we had a full house of bicyclists, all taking a shower at the same time and it exceeded our capacity for the first time in many years.

The accommodations were top notch and that was amazingly exceeded by the quality of the dining. Breakfast was wonderful. We made a reservation for dinner, which we chose to eat on the screened-in porch, and it was FANTASTIC! One of us had lamb and the other halibut. Both were wonderful as was dessert and the presentation was spectacular! Kudos to the proprietors and the chef.

We stayed here for two nights and loved it. Great place to stay at. The staff were really friendly and the place was very clean and cozy. They also have a restaurant where they serve delicious food made by using local and fresh ingredients. Definitely recommend this place to anyone considering to stay here!

A great place. The proprietors do it all,take care of the guests and make dinner and breakfast. Make sure to have dinner there. The inn runs on clean energy. Make sure to look at the night sky here. So many stars you never knew existed. Beautiful.

We disliked this place so much we left early. They are not forthcoming about the fact there is no AC, our room upstairs was boiling hot because the window curtain was not closed and so it created a green house in the room. We opened the window and turned on a fan and went to dinner. When we return we the room was even hotter because dinner was being cooking immediately below the room and it was miserable! Also the room does not have a TV which left us with nothing to do since it was raining. Usually places say there is no air just to be upfront this place hides that. We only had a reservation for 1 night and hoped we could get our money back since the room was over too hot to sleep in and they refused. We ended up getting some credit from Expedia. We loved all the places we stayed in Nova Scotia but this place was terrible! Stay away!

Thank you for taking your time to write a review. We regret that you were uncomfortable along with 5+ million people world-wide because of climate change. It is a problem that our tiny efforts are trying to address by having no air conditioning but having windows that open, ceiling fans and fresh air exchangers. I must say that I take strong exception to your comments: 1) that we seem to be hiding the fact that we have no air conditioning and 2) that I refused to give their money back. Neither are matters of fact. As to no TV ---we make that VERY clear. We offer a quiet place without blaring TVs. As to what you could do: watch the hummingbirds, read a book out of our library, or even visit with our other guests as we have so many fascinating and accomplished ones.

Chanterelle Inn and Cottages, an excellent place to stay, high on the hill overlooking the valley below. The Inn is very tastefully decorated and gives an "at home" feeling as soon as you walk in the door. A screened in veranda is an exquisite place to have your morning breakfast and watch the mist lift from the mountains. Rooms are spotless and food very good. Hope to see you again Chanterelle Inn!

Hidden gem, amazing views and food!
This inn is a hidden gem! It was our first stay and we chose it because if it’s proximity to the world-renowned Cabot trail (it’s actually on the trail) and the reviews we read about their good. The inn is nestled in a hilltop overlooking mountains and a river...a beautiful spot. They gave a screened in porch where meals can be taken showing the incredible fall colours. The meal was one of the best I can remember! The staff are local and make you feel like you have come home. If I stayed again, I would splurge and upgrade to a cottage...we will definitely be back again!

Charming Inn With Lovely Staff and Food
We booked a stay at Chanterelle Inn after our Airbnb booking cancelled our confirmed booking. The Inn had one spot left and, while it was rather far from where we originally intended to stay, it was one of the best things to have happened on our trip! The inn was absolutely charming, the staff so hospital and kind, and the food was EXCELLENT with vegetarian options for my fiancee as well!
