Sad To See It Go
This was our first time at FireFly, and we had high hopes of making it our ongoing spot, but we understand it has been sold. No one knows what the future holds. It is a sad situation for employees at the hotel, and even the restaurant. The pros are definitely the employees! They could not have been nicer, in spite of the uncertainty of future employment. Andrea, in the office, was very helpful in assisting with changes we had to make due to an emergency. Jarvis, in the office, is amazing. Thoughtful, helpful, with a great personality!!!!! He would do well anywhere, and be a real asset. Addy, in housekeeping, was a delight. She wasn’t our housekeeper, but would brighten up your day anytime you came in contact with her. And, Miss Darby was excellent (our housekeeper). Very pleasant, and helped us with some laundry. My husband’s socks have never been whiter! Gary, in security, was so nice to talk with, and went out of his was to make us feel comfortable. Cons. The property could use some updating, both inside, and out. Water pressure was sometimes an issue. We went 2 days without TV, and wifi was iffy at best. We never saw anyone at the security entrance. Gary can’t be at the beach, and entrance, at the same time. We would have considered going back, but because of the total uncertainty of the property we have already made arrangements elsewhere. You have to book early for these small, local, affordable, places.

everyone who works at firefly is super nice- andrea is so sweet and very helpful if you have any issues. the guests can be a bit much, but that's just how negril beach is. pelican suite is great if you want to have a beach view but be separate from the rest of the guests, plus it has a great kitchen. the folks working next door at sun beach can get kind of loud when they're hanging out in the staff area, though. room 11 is great if you want privacy and are fine with road noise and crowing roosters- i happen to really like both, so it was all good for me.

I was here 11/3-11/10/2023. The price rt air (DTW) & stay was $500. Can’t beat it. When we arrived, I was shown the room the package included-shared bathroom-and was offered an upgrade for $100 more pp. No problem. $600 for a one week. All good. Desk employee who arranged accommodations-Travis- very very nice and pleasant. Housekeeping staff very friendly. My only complaint is the food at the Firefly. Terrible and overpriced. We ate there a couple times and quickly began eating 2 doors down at the Sandy Haven. EVERY DAY. Excellent drinks, food and prices. Full breakfast with French toast, eggs, bacon & potatoes $8! The wonderful think about being along this Negril beach strip is that you can walk along the beach and visit neighboring properties’ bars and restaurants; all beaches are public. You don’t have to stay there to eat there and thank goodness for that- you won’t be stuck/limited to where you lay your head! I would return to Firefly. Rooms 14 & 19 are GREAT & highly recommended. AC works GREAT. Wifi is OK.

Disapointing
We booked this hotel in Negril as an extension to our stay in Montego Bay. It was literally one of the only hotels available. We took our chances and were so disappointed. The property had garbage piled up all over and the smell and bugs from the garbage were so awful, we had to plug our noses each time we walked to our room. There were old appliances like washing machines or dryers laying around on the property. We had a death in the family the day we arrived and had to leave early. The property was very gracious and agreed to refund the remaining part of our stay. They even wrote a letter and signed it agreeing to the refund, however they did not abide by their agreement and once we left, they never refunded the money. They did not return any of our phone calls or emails or requests to speak with the manager. We will certainly NOT return to this hotel or recommend it to anyone else.

We got a suite for 3 people with a kitchen with stove, refrigerator, microwave. The place is very outdated but clean and spacious. Few feet away from the beach. They do have restaurant options inside the firefly and surrounding hotels as well. My only inconvenience was that it was very noisy and loud at night. We couldn't sleep. During Negril party nights, felt like the music blasting from the speakers were right near our rooms. Rooms didn't have curtains, so party blinking lights were annoying while we were trying to sleep at 2 am .

Good Day,thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the noise even though nothing could be done about it as you guys stayed during the annual Dream Weekend so there is no escaping the loud music. And also all windows in the pelican suite has block out curtains. However we always seek new ways to improve our services so we will take your feedback into consideration.

Great location next to a lot of restaurants, activities and shopping needs. Service at restaurant was just ok. Shower in room was very low pressure and no hot water. Asked for it to be fixed but it never was. Used community shower.

Rooms were maintained clean daily by happy, caring staff. The soft white sandy beach with a safe swim in the Caribbean Sea just steps away. There are various tasty restaurant food choices, always timely served by friendly staff. Travel advice available from early morning to late evening from the knowledgeable office staff. Competent security staff around 24/7. We had quite an enjoyable HOLIDAY at Firefly Resort!!

Could have been great, but we were left confused.
While staff (especially the cleaning staff and resturaunt staff) are very friendly, the entire trip was confusion caused by poor communication from the front desk staff. The first day, friends we were travelling with were informed that they had no room and were going to be provided with a room at a different place. It turned out to be basically a shack that smelled poorly. Our room, once we checked in had multiple beds. Our friends ended up staying with us and Firefly chose to not comp the other room. On our last day there, we were told that we needed to move rooms because they overbooked and needed the space. That being said, the resturaunt had excellent service and the food was great. The rooms were kept very clean by the staff and were nice if a bit dated.

I do agree there were some confusion and misunderstandings due to communication issues and double bookings hence why we had to upgraded you to the two bedroom cottage instead of a studio. We sincerely apologize because that is not the firefly beach cottages way. We hope to see you again in the future with proper booking.

Be careful which accommodation you agree to — mine was a chicken coop! Not worth more than $20. Up all night with mosquitoes biting me. No fly tape available to prevent this. Staff was nice. No breakfast or cup of coffee offered to offset the inconvenience. Terrible place.

Hi chris,thank you for your feedback as we are always seeking new ways to improve our service, we are distraught that you did not have a pleasant stay with us, but as you say you have to choose rooms carefully as the basic cabins are not for everyone but is booked because its very cheap. We hope to have you return but please book a room this time :)

Ett boende som funkar för ett par dagar pga av läget. Seven mile beach precis vid resorten. Magiska solnedgångar på första parkett!!! Svala rum. Personalen i resurangen är inte så vänliga med gör väl sitt jobb. Åt endast frukost en gång och då fanns ingen frukt. Finns massor av andra ställen. Obs!!!... Är du lättväckt är detta inte ett ställe för dig. Tupparna börjar skrika vid ett på natten och fortsätter till ca 7.30 Själv höll jag på bli galen. Vi hade 3 nätter på detta ställe och det räckte. Med pga av läget så blir det ändå 3 ☀️☀️☀️

Loved the location. Way too close to the road so very very noisy with traffic starting at 5am! Incredibly horrid loud roosters beside us on both sides starting screaming every night at midnight til 6am ... not the resort fault but hey didnt sleep much lol Food was very good, the $5 lunches were excellent thanks dawn

the web site is very deceiving we booked two different rooms the first had no stove,micro wave,coffee pot toiletries or bottled water as stated in description.the second was the beach view cottage described as 398 sq ft it was 180 sq ft and the restaurant blocked the sea view. also no toiletries or bottled water

The place is awesome but we did not get the ocean view suite we reserved. When speaking with other guests the same happened to them. Seems like other guest may have extended their stay and they accommodated them rather than the new guests checking in. I would definitely stay again as long as I am assured of my exact accommodations before arrival.

Good Day Stephanie.Thank you for you review. Happy that you enjoyed your stay. However as we explained there was a system error hence your room got mixed up. hence y we apologized with free beers and and a free anniversary dinner.We would never extend a guest stay and put a guest out of their original booking. That would be unfair and unethical. Also you have been misinformed regarding the other guest. They did receive their correct booking, the issue is they were missing a few amenities such as a stove and microwave as we had redone that kitchen area due to the limited space it was unsafe for a stove. Thanks again and we apologize again for the ,mishap and hope to see you again.

These cottages are a little rustic but clean and extremely well taken care of by staff, just the way I like it. It is a little loud in am but who wants to sleep in when you’re steps from the Sea. Very central beach location.

Our room was upgraded as there was an issue with the one we were supposed to have and it was really cool. Not fancy but had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious. All of the staff were great. Beautiful property with well-tended beach. The restaurant has good food and prices - it fills up in the afternoons due to happy hour specials. We had a great stay here and would return.

Andrea and staff were very accommodating and SO PLEASANT!! Although the property is older without the resort type "glitz & glamor" it is very clean, tidy and the AC is artic! The view from penthouse #17 is nice with the ocean directly in front. Fyi...There are quite a few steps involved that were challenging with my knee issues. Nonetheless, the room was very clean and fresh! The restaurant gives that "porch" vibe and ocean view. The food was good and the staff EXEMPLARY! We bought a bottle and were invited to stay and enjoy the night even after staff had left. It was a nice stay and would glady return!

I definitely have no complaints. Staff are very friendly welcoming like family. Food was good too.Perfect location for a good blend of the local lifestyle and tourist life. Lots of activities especially water sports(parasailing,snorkeling,jet skiing,etc.) My only problem was that the excursions I planned were canceled because firefly wasn’t listed as a pickup location, even tho listed locations were literally footsteps or a palm tree away. Plan ahead for transportation to and from excursions outside of Negril. As in Ocho Rios,Montego Bay,Falmouth

This was our second stay at Firefly and we loved it! It’s not a fancy hotel but it made us feel like we were glamping right by the beach which is definitely our style. I love the location because there are usually events nearby that we could walk to. The staff is very friendly and we had a great time getting to know them. Make sure to eat dinner at the restaurant at least once. Jermaine’s cooking is excellent! The only downside to our stay was that there was no longer a security guard on the beach (which there was the last time we were here) so the locals will come right up to your beach chair to sell you items. That aside though, we still plan to stay at Firefly again.

The staff, food, bar, and beach were so sweet. Perfect escape. Hassle-free. It's true things can be tough in this life. The people working on the beach are polite most of the time but a few of them are annoyed and hot and hungry. We can not unfortunately support them all. The frequent approach and response did make us feel a way after a while. But we understand that this is how people survive and remain respectful even after the kiss of their teef and dismiss of our apology. So it goes☮. We will recommend FF and be back to visit when the time is right.💜

Best beach ever!! We stayed in the Hummingbird Suite, room was comfy and balcony view was awesome!! Bathroom is definitely dated and really my only complaint. We had an amazing week, cannot wait to go back :)

Budget hotel on Beautiful Beach
Stayed in the Penthouse. Beautiful view but 32 steps to get up there. Not for someone with bad knees. Slept with door open at night. Very pleasant All employees were very nice. Didnt like that they allowed people to hang out and use beach chairs that were not staying at the hotel. These people dis not appear to be buying anything from the bar/restaurant but would hang out for hours Good location on the beach with several nearby restaurant options. All in all a.good stay at a reasonable price. Nothing fancy.

Most of the rooms are small, dark and dingy. However, when I expressed dissatisfaction with the room I had booked, I was offered a more airy, bright room. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the complex is very run-down. I would not stay there again.
