We were in Carbondale for the solar eclipse, so the hotel was very busy. The staff was still very friendly and the manager in particular was very enthusiastic about greeting each guest.

I always stay here when i visit my daughter at SIU. Clean, friendly. Beds are comfortable. The pool and hot tub are well maintained. Overall, great hotel!

stayed one night to experience the eclipse. Liked the clean room, the hotels location and surrounding area. Did not like the astronomical room rate which totaled almost $500

At first when looking at the first couple reviews I was a little worried. But I have to say this property was great. We were greeted at the front desk by a friendly, smiley employee. Our room was very spacious and clean. Bed was comfy. Went to go sit in the hot tub and there were no towels. Went to the front desk and asked if there were towels or do we take our bathroom towels. The gentleman behind the desk said no he will get towels and immediately grabbed towels and brought them out to us and apologized. Breakfast was also amazing. They had cheese omelette’s, sausage and potatoes along with your usual continental breakfast food. I would absolutely recommend staying at this hotel.

Definitely would not be staying there again. The complementary breakfast was awful. The waffle machine was broke, and they had no milk for the cereal. The Internet was terrible could not log onto our personal devices, and the TV was in and out the entire time. I would’ve expected considering the the price of the hotel. Very dissatisfied.

We’ve stayed here a few times and the past couple of times the breakfast has been underwhelming. The waffle irons have been down and the options are very limited. We base our decision on where to stay with the free breakfast in mind. This could determine our next stay.

Someone left their barn door open
Great location near Walker's Bluff Casino. Room clean but door to bathroom was difficult to open. It was a barn door and the track did not seem to function properly. Told staff at the time of departure and assured me it would be fixed that day.

everything was wonderful, check in, room and condition. The only downside was cold air blowing into the bathroom. i guess it was to keep the steam down from the bath...should not blow all the time.

We have stayed at this Hampton over the past several years while visiting our daughter at SIU-C. We have ALWAYS had a pleasant experience-from the staff at the reception desk, upon arrival-to the morning breakfast staff who bring a smile to your face...and the housekeeping staff, too!!! Our daughter has graduated over the weekend, and her life is moving forward-so we will not be seeing these people again...We just want you all to know how great you are! Thank you all so very much!

Hotel was in a great location for my needs. Staff were friendly and hotel was clean. Breakfast was above average for a free meal. My only complaints were that is was loud at all hours. Due to time changes I often didn't go to sleep until after 1am, and it was loud even then. I was awoken one morning by the housekeeping staff greeting each other loudly outside my room. The shower was hard to regulate temperature - it was either too hot or too cool and there was quite a delay when making adjustments. The toilet also didn't flush consistently. Nothing major; just some annoying things when there for a week.

This hotel is fine. It’s clean and rooms are large. Service was prompt. There is nothing super fancy about it and the remodel was kind of rough around the edges. Overall though, a solid place to stay.

What I did not like: no lock on in room sliding bathroom door. Provided for some awkward moments! What I liked, everything else. Who I liked: Margaret, the breakfast lady. She's friendly and attentive to the customers. She makes a mean breakfast and gave excellent suggestions for things to try. I also appreciated the young lady that checked us in. Our keys were a mess and she helped get them straightened them out. So different from other young people these days who normally welcome any added work with an eyeroll or sigh. She was eager to help and this was appreciated.

A go place for overnight or longer.
Excellent stay. Hotel staff very friendly and willing to make extra facilities for handicapped visitor. Room was very clean, well equipped and well suited for handicapped customers. Breakfast was clean and well stocked with items for almost anyone. Highly recommended.
