The Food While Layton's isn't strictly a diner, it's the closest you'll find in this neighborhood. The menu is laminated, the prices are reasonable, and the coffee is strong, but you can get several kinds of grilled fish as well as veggie chili. Vegetarians will find more than the standard grilled cheese: several sandwiches, salads, pastas and a hearty veggie burger are among the meat-free items. But meat eaters aren't left out--there are plenty of sandwiches and burgers. Everyone will want to save room for dessert: Sseveral of the cakes are made by the nearby Lake Forest Pastry Shop.
