The Scene
Yuppie heaven, with hardwood floors and nary a net in sight. Tables dressed in white linen horseshoe around a hopping (sometimes loud), enclosed bar with counter service, tables and overhead TVs. Young servers in black handle orders with efficiency, if not genuine warmth.
The Food
Mostly seafood with oak-grilled meat alternatives. The "freshest fish" on the menu change daily depending on the catch at Gary's Specialties Seafood and come with an excellent vegetable medley and faceless risotto cakes. Ongoing selections, served with soup or salad, include lobster and filet mignon, fresh sea scallops fettuccini, and twin roasted chicken breasts. Order the crab cakes or andouille-rich gumbo to start. The restaurant makes many of its desserts, including tiramisu by one pastry chef/server and a luscious two-crusted Key lime cheesecake by another. Skip the starches--from the bland rolls to the risotto cakes.
