Les Marechaux was a tremendous discovery. Amazing historic building, warm welcome, comfortable rooms and sumptuous breakfast, it’s also just a 10 minute walk from the old town of the delightful Auxerre, with its bars full of delicious Burgundy and enticing restaurants. It was tremendously good value too! I’ll be back in the summer and enjoyed every minute.

The room in this nice family run hotel was a nostalgic reminder of my stays in France years ago. It was nicely furnished, even if a little worn in places. The hostess was charming and helpful at check in. Unfortunately her husband was the opposite at breakfast the next morning, punishing us with attitude and impatience at our not being French.

A very nice stay

Wonderful! Located where we could walk to Avenue de Champagne. Parking is right in front and the gate is locked at night. The owners are very sweet and caring. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable hotel near the city centre.
Our stay was enjoyable. We liked the historic ambience of the decor and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The only thing we thought needed upgrading was the pillows, which we felt were too hard and uncomfortable.

Aging and in need of updating
Friendly service and free coffee does not make up for dusty rooms (1/4" of dust on the baseboards) and flies buzzing overnight even though we never opened the windows. The deluxe room was small (though well laid out) but needed updating. The walls were scuffed and the carpet was stained and worn. The flies were a real annoyance. Where did they come from? Were they breeding in the room or did the maids open the windows while we were gone and let them in? We had at least one every day of our four day stay.

Enjoyable evening
we were traveling through France, on way to Paris airport. Spent the night.The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. A relaxing atmosphere, Grounds nicely done and very good breakfast.

Staff were nice. it was 27C when we arrived but the centrally controlled air conditioning remained firmly off, we asked. The room was too hot, I slept with the window open, helped a little, but I picked up a few insect bites. Breakfast was alright, but food covers to keep the flies off would be good.

Lovely, quiet hotel ideally situated on the outskirts of Auxerre. Hotel run by very friendly and helpful couple, who made our stay a pleasure.

Step back in time
Beautifully renovated 18th century Maison Particulière. Very friendly and professional staff. Fabulous small village just a couple hours outside of Paris.

Beautiful room in a historic building
Loved the charm of this hotel. Period building & rooms. As others noted, there is a fair amount of street noise if your room overlooks the avenue. I’m a heavy sleeper so it wasn’t a problem. It’s a 10 minute walk to restaurants and beyond to get to the heart of Auxerre attractions. While I loved the property and staff on their own, I would rethink the location if I wanted to explore more of Auxerre on foot over several days.

A nice getaway from the A6.
A very quick stop on our way back to Paris. After driving all day it was a delight to stay at this lovely hotel. The town was quite interesting, and the chablis delicious. The room was very comfortable.

Wonderful front desk staff; was able to check in early. Easy parking. Room was small, but comfortable and spotless. Beautifully decorated. Nice bathroom. Heat/climate control worked well and appeared new. Our room faced the street...>was a bit noisy. Would ask for a room on the non-street side. We don't eat breakfast, but no hassle getting just (reasonably priced) coffee.

A charming old fashioned hotel
Nice old building, at the edge of the old town. We arrived late and stayed only one night, so we did not have the time to explore the garden. Our Privilege Double Room had a Marechal name as all the others, but it was peaceful, big and nicely decorated in an old fashioned way. Good quality bed. The bathroom is in need of redecorating. Excellent breakfast, nicely served and containing tasty local produce.

Lovely city beautiful architecture. Lots of trees in the neighbourhood. Would have been good if pool in garden was able to be used as it was hot. Excellent breakfast. Pleasant hosts.

Very good traditional French hotel
Stayed overnight on a trip through France. A very comfortable traditional style French hotel. The town's restaurant area is just a short stroll down the street from the hotel. A good choice for a very comfortable stay, and of course, the nearby vineyards.

Bed comfotable and large room and very large bathroom but badly planned and laid out. Very little wardrobe space and no drawers or shelving to put stuff. Had to keep most clothes in suitcase. Bathroom large with good bath and plenty of space for a separate shower but non-existent. Shower attachment on bath but no high level holder so had to hold shower head making it difficult to have relaxing shower. Although room appeared clean, found a pair of boxer shorts behind curtains, so more care reaquired.

Friendly welcome on arrival. Access to the upper floors via a very small lift that needs a good service. Rooms are given a name and not a number, so you have to look at each door to find your room. Although the hotel was very empty during our one night stay, and plenty of rooms vacant, we were given the smallest room on the first floor. A bedside table on only one side of the bed. Problem when both people wear glasses. Could not gain access to the small bathroom if other person was working at the desk. Out of the 3 lamps within the room, only one worked. Air Conditioning controlled via the reception, so AC came on in the morning when not required or requested. Space between wardrobe and mini-bar was for suitcase stand, but could not open out stand as space too small. Room basically suited for only one person. Bathroom was 'L' shaped with only about 50cm between whb and wc to gain access into bath. No high level hook to use shower, nor shower curtain. WiFi useless at first as it would cut out every 5 minutes, until complained. Better later in the evening. Certainly not a 4 Star hotel - 3 at the most.
