“Exceptional Service at Crowne Plaza Hotel Yantai Sea View”

I arrived at midnight on Nov. 14 from the Yantai airport en route from Beijing and San Francisco. On check-in I was greeted very courteously. I checked out the following afternoon, but returned the following Friday night the 19th for a one night stay for my return trip to San Francisco. Everything about the hotel was superb, the public areas, my room with luxury amenities, the decor of the restaurant and an outstanding array of food. All the service personnel was very helpful.

“will return to this hotel”

The Crowne Plaza Hotel Yantai is a very nice 5 star hotel located at the new CBD district. Quality of the hotel is top notch. Room are nice and spacious. The only short fall is that the hotel is away from the downtown area, by taxi is about RMB40.- We went to the nearby Jusco store for drinks/snacks shopping and there are fast food like KFC at the complex (taxi RMB12.-)

“A hotel in Disguise”

By all menas this hotel looks like a Crown Plaza even has the name of the Crown Plaza but is not a Crown Plaza. At checkin the staff wouldnt understand that the hotel room charge was prepaid through Expedia. The room was dirty. for them the only cleaning required is the toiletbowl not the floor and the walls. I found that to be the same at all 5 star hotels I stayed at in China. The bell buy stands in the middle room expecting a tip and even asks for it At breakfast the staff follows you arround to the breakfast buffet while you are putting food on your plate to ask for your signature. As if they cant wait untill I return to my table. The pool is ice cold and the staff followed me to the elivator to claim the towel that I was using to stay warm. As if they couldnt obtain it from the room. Management spend more time trying to apologise for staff mistakes than actually training the staff. Having said all of this the food is excellent the veiw is out of this world but the finishing requires maintenance. Although the hotel was built only a few years ago it is already showing signs of aging and walking arround you can see craks and water leaks. This hotel is not fit to be called a crown plaza by any standard.
