“An unexpected jewel of a hotel”
Our experience of the hotel was very positive. It is in a very central and convenient location, The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpfulat all times.. We had a very comfortable and well appointed room room with a huge bathroom. The breakfast was excellent, I was a little apprehensive beforehand as some reviews suggested noisy rooms, but this was absolutely not our experience. My only negative comment relates to the £5 parking fee, which I felt should not apply to hotel residents.
“Good Value”
This is my second visit to this hotel. My first was some 10 years ago when it was "The Star". Since then it has had a complete renovation and is now of the standard expected of this type of hotel. Maintenace is good as demonstrated by the fact that some of the outside was being repainted when I arrived. The rooms seem to be unchanged in size but are better equipped. My only reservations were, first that my room was on the front of the hotel and the street outside was busy until the early hours; second the level of training/concentration of the receptionist on duty - she seemed confused about breakfast times and directed me to the wrong floor!
