“Charming old hotel with great service”

A beautiful 'chateau style' hotel. The lobby bar is very nice, with good service and live jazz in the evening - it was a comfortable spot to sit with a book and enjoy a few drinks. All the public areas are elegant and well kept. The room was very clean, but definitely old - if you are bothered by older plumbing and electrical and walls that have been painted over several times, and other signs of an older building (it was built around 1915), this might not be the place for you. The bed was newer, clean and comfortable. Rather than having coffee makers in the room, you can call anytime (or arrange ahead) to have fresh coffee, cookies and newspaper brought up to your room. All in all, I really enjoyed this hotel, and it will definitely be my first choice if I ever find myself back in Winnipeg.

“Great value”

Great hotel, well situated, modern yet has the ambience of a country manor house. Try the lounge for a drink before dinner. Great breakfast.

“Total comfort”

I love this hotel. The rooms are very comfortable with lots of 'little' things that make your stay more enjoyable. Free coffee/tea service to the room on a silver tray. Very comfortable lounge/restaurant - not intimidating for a single female business traveller. Reasonably priced dinner menu although wines priced a bit outrageously. Grand piano in the lounge played during happy hour. Laptops available by front desk to print boarding passes or search web. Amazing breakfast - white tablecloth service. Walking distance to The Forks.

“Look forward to staying on our next visit. Wonderful breakfast!!”

Complimentary tea and coffee with treats at any time. Now boasts a spa as well. The Palm room is elegant and inviting. The owners deserve much praise in the efforts they go to to provide comfort to its lodgers. The breakfasts are very generous and the staff is very friendly. We rate it at at least four stars!!!

“Fort Garry”

We enjoyed our stay at the Fort Garry. The location to downtown Winnipeg is really handy. The staff were friendly and helpful and seemed very competent. Our room wasn't big, but it was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. I would say though that the room was a bit on the shabby side in that the carpets need some mending or replacing, and the hallways and walls need to be updated in the near future. We had the Sunday brunch and it was very well done and we enjoyed it. We would definitely stay there again.

“Dining in”

This hotel has so much going for it if you like the European style in Canada which I insist on. The beds are fantastic, the service formal but friendly, the rooms are elegant even if they seem older. Its very clean and 1 window opens in your bathroom although you have to monkey around to open or shut it. Housekeeping leaves you alone if you request Privacy and the front desk staff are a tight team. The Spa is one of the best even though they seem rushed at times, over busy. The products worth the price. The little sandwich kiosk open all night needs some attention, food is stale. The wireless internet should be free as your connection will drop often but its sufficient if you have to work in your room. The in room dining service salads and pasta dishes were not the best; I wouldn't order again, but the pizza was amazing. The Sunday buffet is also amazing and a completely different level of cooking and baking. And, lastly, it was not easy for me to find a reservation for this hotel as the online services were mostly all sold out including the hotel site itself. Yet, the place was almost vacant and they might want to check out their web services about this if they're wondering why bookings seem thin.
