Beautiful historic hotel. Beautifully renovated. Great food in the cafe on the first floor. And an amazing price for all of this. Typically these rooms would go for more than $ 300 in a large city. A great escape from DC for the weekend.

“Excellent Hotel with added bonus of The Dancing Goat!”

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms wonderful; one of the most comfortable beds ever. Large bowl of apples at the reception desk! Dining at the Dancing Goat in the hotel was superb!

“A Great Choice”

We spent one night here as part of an anniversary getaway. Upon our arrival, we valet parked (a very reasonable $4, but we had to go inside to find a valet at 3pm). The room was small, but nice. The bathroom had a glassed-in shower (but no tub). The toiletries were Gilchrist & Soames, but did not include conditioner or conditioning shampoo (just regular shampoo). The coffeemaker was a single serve pod-type with Wolfgang Puck coffee. The bed was great. Our room was on the second floor above the main ballroom where a wedding reception was taking place. We got to hear a lot of it. I suggest requesting a room above the second floor. Service at the bar was very good (we were the only people there for most of the night). The restaurant downstairs (The Dancing Goat?) left a lot to desire, but covered most of what we needed for breakfast. The location is great if you are visiting Old Town Winchester (one block away). If we find a reason to spend a night in Winchester again, The George Washington Hotel will be at the top of our list.

The hotel has only been open since April 2008, but wow what a place. The rooms are beautiful, though ours seemed a bit small, probably the huge kingsize bed did that. The bathroom was sumptuous, marble countertop and floor, huge walk in marble shower with rain showerhead. Wyndham did a great job. I lived in Winchester 20 yrs ago and at the time the hotel was a home for adults and it was a dump. They have certainly turned it around. We are already planning to go back in the spring.

The hotel was very nice. the lobby was very inviting and there was live music coming from the lounge when we arrived. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean and beautiful. We ordered room service and they were very prompt and the food was delicious. The chef prepared the fish of the day in a special way for me.

This hotel is a very charming hotel. Very comfortable. Very well decorated with modern conveniences. The shower is amazing!!!! The lobby bar is wonderful. The room service menu is good. The valet needs some attention, but in their defenese it was raining when we got there and they only had 1 person on duty. The room service people need to learn their menus because they forgot half the breakfast... so when you order be really specific!! I highly recommend this hotel! It was a great stay and very comfortable room!

“Great place to stop in VA”

The George Washington is a reasonably priced historic hotel in the pedestrian-friendly downtown of WInchester, VA. The bathrooms and pool are pretty great. The hotel restaurant is nice, but there are several better alternatives in the blocks immediately around the hotel. The room service is prompt but unfortunately isn't 24 hours. They have homemade ice cream and an extensive bar. What more do you need?

Hotel is excellent value for the money. Clean rooms, great vibe. Restaurant closed on Sunday night, which was inconvenient, but otherwise great stay!

I was extremely impressed! Although the rooms were a bit on the small side, they were very clean and comfortable. The shower was also wonderful! We also enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the Dancing Goat restaurant.
