“Have no problem staying here again”
Well worth it considering the proximity to everything and continental breakfast complete with tables and chairs in the kitchen. We stayed here along with many others that weekend for the Grand Illumination of Colonial Williamsburg and Christmastown at Busch Gardens. It is very convenient to everything you could possibly want to do. There are loads of street signs directing you to all the tourist attractions; plenty of restaurants around and several you can walk to quickly. The front desk staff were extremely personable. We'd definitely not hesitate to stay here again.
“Great for price”
The hotel had just what we were looking for a place to sleep with a continental breakfast at a good price. If you are looking for an elaborate continental breakfast or hotel room this would not be the place for you.
“Enjoyable get away”
Excellent location near historic sites and modern amenities.
“Serviceable”
Well located, easy access.
“Exactly what I paid for”
The Travelodge Inn and Suites Historic Area was the least expensive option with the highest user reviews. It offered free wifi, free breakfast, and free parking. Check in was easy, although finding the room was initially confusing (drive here, park there, take the elevator here, or the stairs there...). Any deviation from the script was met with blank stares from the employees (all two of them) -- in other words, questions didn't elicit a lot of information. On the second night, we returned to our room late to find that housekeeping hadn't replaced our towels. When I called down to the front desk, I was told I could come and get them myself. When I checked out, the elevator was broken, making the trip downstairs with luggage another adventure. The wifi didn't work for the last day of my stay. Breakfast was meager, and crowded. Check out was confusing -- I had paid through Expedia, so there were no additional charges, but my bill was a confusing list of charges added and then removed. The hotel was exactly as represented: a no-frills, clean, and inexpensive place to stay. That said, I'm going to explore other possibilities the next time I visit the area.
“Nice Place”
The hotel was convenient to Historic Williamsburg and Bush Gardens. The rooms were clean and provided us a no frills place to sleep. They did run out of towels twice and we had to ask for towels at the end of our day. New ones were being ordered. The breakfast was fine, it got full around 8:00. Great place for the price. We are planning on staying again in October.
“Get What You Pay For/Close to Col Wmsburg Visitor Center”
Probably not up to most standards but I'm not so persnickety. Needed a place to sleep, shower and change clothes. This room provided that. I was gone by 930 a.m. and didn't get back to the room until after 10 p.m. Didn't spend a lot of time in the room so I didn't need much in the way of the "finer things" that the more expensive hotels might've had. Did miss the refrigerator and microwave. I was hoping for eggs and bacon at the cont'l breakfast and was disappointed but the hotel was close enough to Mama Steve's so I ate there one morning. The location of the hotel was extremely convenient to the Yankee Candle Shop, other souvenir shops and CW which are the main reasons I came there. I did have rather reasonable rates. It is next door to a Hooter's which could be good/could be bad depending on your gender. However, the noise did not disturb me in the room. The safe was not working - but again, I didn't really need it. The radio and television worked great! The floor was clean and the room smelled fresh. I did find an 8-day old pass to CW in the desk drawer but no big deal. I don't always empty my desk drawer either. No evidence of bed bugs. The bed was comfortable - I slept very well all three nights I stayed. If I ever get the chance to go back to Wmsburg, I would probably stay here again unless I win big in the lottery and money becomes no issue. Again, you get what you pay for and for what I paid, I was satisfied with the place.
“Nice place to sleep”
We spent most of our time in the resort and used the motel as a place to sleep, store our belongings and have breakfast. The air conditioner rattled constantly so my companion found it difficult to sleep and the towels were very harsh. Otherwise, it was acceptable considering the price.
“Decent”
Adequate and convenient. Had a bed, tv and bathroom that all worked
“Pleasantly surprised”
For the $$ we paid, we were pleaseantly surprised. Some of the reviews I read were terrible, but we took a chance and booked anyway, and were not dissapointed. The staff was very nice (both day and night). The room was clean and I have no complaints whatsoever.
