“It is quiet and inexpensive, HOWEVER.........”

The staff is extremely friendly and the rooms are clean. There is NO RESTAURANT on site (has not been there for over 10 years). I do not know about the other buildings, but our building (poolside) the exterior trim was badly broken on several of the doors and the building and decks could use a good coat of paint. According to one of the maintenance people I spoke to, several of the rooms in that building had broken heater/AC. In our room was a portable A/C that only got the room down to 72 degrees at its lowest setting. I also noticed a 1500 watt "DuraFlame" heater (I do hope they get the regular heater fixed before winter. I doubt that heater could heat the room to 60 degrees in the winter). The "Dutch Treat" restaurant has to rate among THE WORST restaurants I have ever eaten in. The wife and I had hot turkey sandwiches - the bread was stale, the turkey was as dry as a desert and the DARK BROWN gravy MAY have been ok for a meatloaf, but definitely not for turkey. For decent restaurants take exit 33, go right then turn left on Route 112. There are several good restaurants there. It is about a 15 minute drive from the Hillwinds.

“Cheap and ok for a night.”

Location is very good.Cheap. Visited in Aug.Room had mildew smell. Bathroom exhaust not working. No ventilation. Good breakfast room and coffee. Booking fee added to the bill. Linens were clean. Pool was clean. old rooms. If you just need a place to sleep for a night it is ok. Had wifi.

“Not a comfortable stay”

We booked a two night stay, but left after one night. In all fairness, the couple that runs this place is nice enough, but it's not well maintained. Our first room didn't have a working bathroom sink which I found out when trying to brush my teeth before going to sleep. When we called to complain they gave us keys to another room so we had to move all of our things. That night I got maybe 15 minutes of sleep because the mattress was absolutely terrible. Outside on the grounds there's various clutter and crap just lying around, like old Christmas decorations and rolled up carpets which gave the place a trashy look. My advice is avoid this motel since there's better places for about the same rates.

“Try Another Spot”

It is peak season so there were not a lot of alternatives. But it probably would have been better to make a different location choice. After being in the room we did not wait around for the complementary breakfast (if the room looks like this...what will be the condition of the food?).
