“Hillwinds July2011”
Good price and good room very near to our hiking destination in Franconia Notch. It was right off the highway one street and on a bubbling brook. Very quiet neighborhood and well kept.
“Can't wait to get back!”
One of the most enjoyable trips my husband and I have been on! We try to get away every 4 months and try different hotels. The Hillwinds can only be described as a surprising treasure! The room was large, comfortabe and very clean. Tina made sure we received another TV because our's did not have closed captioning for my husband who is deaf. We have stayed at many expensive hotels in North Conway that cannot even compare to The Hillwinds! Thank- you all for an amazing stay! See you again really soon!
“Great time”
It was just perfect: Clean, organized, relax pace, swimming pool, bbq grills and good service.
“NICE PLACE”
I was surprised @ how large the rooms were and it was very modern in each room considering how old the hotel is. Our room had ‘2’ queen beds and room for a pack and play with plenty of room to move around. Very nice place to stay.. The entrance needs serious improvements… You drive between ‘2’ houses to get to the hotel.. Very weird..
“Great deal for the money.”
My daughter and I were very happy with the HillWinds Lodge. We needed a place to sleep over while visiting a nearby school and this was perfect for us. The price was excellent and the owner was very friendly, accommodating and flexible. While not luxurious, the room was spacious, clean and functional enough for our needs. The location was quiet, beautiful and convenient - not far from the highway and close to the middle of town. We enjoyed a delicious, reasonably priced dinner at the "Dutch Treat" in town. All the while viewing the gorgeous, snow covered mountains. We're definitely planning on staying here again many times over the next 4 years!
“Homey, comfortable, close to recreational activities”
I was taking my brother to Attitash Mountain to ride the new Nor'Easter roller coaster for his 40th birthday. I just wanted an affordable place to stay that was in between our stop in Concord to see the Discovery Center and Attitash Mountain. We didn't need a lot of luxury, just comfort, and internet (my brother's request!) The rooms were clean, comfortable & well-heated. The only problem we had was an outlet that didn't work. We told the staff, and they responded with concern, and were happy that we let them know. I think if we had told them about it at night, instead of the next morning, they would have moved us to another room. The free continental breakfast was in a sunlit room with a beautiful view of a little stream. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, as did my brother.
“laid back gem in Franconia”
nice, clean, comfortable, unassuming
“A very convenient location”
This hotel was easy to find, situated in a pleasant location and good value for money. It possessed an outdoor swimming pool, a well kept lawn and BBQ facilities and there was a good computer for the free use of guests. We received a warm welcome and enjoyed a spacious and clean room with an excellent shower. The hotel was very conveniently located for day visits to most, if not all parts of the White Mountains, all points further west - Montpelier, Burlington, Shelburne and Stowe - as well as Lincoln and North Conway via the Cancamangus Highway (Rt 112). Would certainly book a return visit if planning to be in that part of the country. Franconia itself is but a small town, has shops that provide most things a traveller might need for a short stay but it is not a 'tourist town' and did not appear to have any 'night life' or outstanding restaurants.
“peaceful and quiet”
Beautiful town, close to groceries, coffee shop, ice cream, etc. Went to neighboring towns, (Bethlehem, Littleton) just a short drive. The hotel seems like a "work in progress" . Owners working everyday to renovate and improve. No regrets, would stay again if in this beautiful area!
“Great value for the Notch”
The owners are really friendly and accomodating. The value was perfect for our mini-getaway with our dog. The rules were easy and no extra costs for our dog. The room was clean and comfortable for a price you can't beat. There is a trail system from behind the parking lot that was great for hours-long hikes, perfect for the dog. No microwaves in room but we were allowed to use the one in the breakfast kitchenette. Free wi-fi was a bonus for us to check the slope and trail conditions Only complaint is that the owners are smokers and their house is attached to the registration area so you can sometimes smell the cigarette smoke waft into the kitchenette area.
