“A nice place we would visit again.”

This guest house is a beautiful old Victorian house in a very nice part of town up on what I think is called the West Cliff. It is about a 15 minute walk from the bus and train stations but only a two minute walk from some great views over the town and river in one direction and out over the cliffs to the beach and sea in another. One caution here: the walk up to the house with luggage is up some pretty steep hills so I would suggest a Taxi up. We walked both ways (we are in our 60s) with no problem but if you are not used to walking you might find the walk up a bit of a challenge. Without luggage it is no problem and we did it several times in the three days we were there. Our room was smallish, on the second floor, but comfortable and the house very quiet with the exception of some minor noise from a tenant who'd had a few too many on the Sat. night. Otherwise, we slept like babes. The biggest draw for us is the amazing - tasty but non-greasy - English breakfast served each morning and included in the room rate. Very friendly wait staff provided great service and cheerful banter. There are a number of routes down to the town and the harbour or to the beach which most people will have no trouble handling but if you really aren't a walker I suggest taking the tourist bus that stops nearby and can be used all day for 3pds. There are good restaurants and pubs just around the corner. All in all, a very satisfactory guest house/B&B that we would definitely visit again.
