We enjoyed our stay at Hilton Garden in, it's basically just off the highway in the middle of a strip mall but you wouldn't know this once you are inside. It's a little oasis in a sea of concrete. The rooms were lovely and the beds very comfortable. The staff were very helpful at the front desk and it was a bonus to have a small pool and gym. We were especially impressed by one staff member (I wish I could remember his name) who accommodated our needs at the bar after 9pm. It's a great base to for a day trip to the Thousand Islands if you are just passing through. Overall I would definitely recommend this to other people.
We booked 2 rooms here for a weekend trip. We arrived late Friday night but got checked in very quickly.
Our first room was perfectly fine: clean, good AC, fridge, t.v. However, the second room's AC did not work. When we went to talk to the front desk, we were informed that they were fully booked because there was a softball tournament in town (it was true, we saw them at breakfast both mornings). We were also told there were 12 other rooms that had broken ACs.
Some came to fix it and it worked for a bit but then stopped. We were compensated for both nights in the one room but had to get it in hotel credit because we booked through Expedia.
The breakfast was just okay .. The potatoes were hard, the bacon was like plastic but I did like their sausages; it will be either bacon or sausage for the day, not both. The eggs were okay too but one day the eggs had cheese in them. When all else fail, make your own waffles! Regular or blueberry. There is also the usual fruits, yogurt and bread selection.
The pool is nice but 5 feet was not really 5 feet. There are saunas in the restrooms but the boy's one was broken.
The walls are pretty thin. We found out because we were laughing at night when the front desk called and said they received noise complaints about our room.
The battery on our card reader was low so we couldn't get in until the batteries were replaced.
Located on the border between the US and Canada, Watertown is home to the New York State Zoo and the Alex Duffy Fairgrounds, where the Jefferson County Fair has its annual summer opening. Ottawa is accessible for daytrips at just a 2-hour drive from sites like Fort Drum and the historic, family-owned Crystal Restaurant, which has been operating since the 1930s.
