Opened in 1998, the artfully designed The Hotel George, a Kimpton Hotel occupies a 1928 building on Capitol Hill. The lobby's mezzanine level includes the Back Room, a glass-enclosed boardroom with high-speed Internet access, granite conference table, ergonomic Herman Miller chairs, original art, and navy leather walls. Located on the lower level, the fitness center includes men's and women's steam rooms. Bistro Bis, adjoining the Washington DC hotel, provides all in-room dining and catering.

A member of the Kimpton collection of boutique hotels, the eight-story The Hotel George, a Kimpton Hotel has 139 guestrooms. Reproductions of the hotel's signature portrait of George Washington (by Andy Warhol protégé Steve Kaufman) hang over the beds, which are dressed in ivory-toned, 300-thread-count Egyptian cotton linens.
Granite-top desks under large circular wall mirrors feature navy leather chairs and phones with high-speed Internet access (surcharge). Stereo/CD players include a selection of nature sounds. Folding cherry-wood doors open to the TV, closet, minibar, and built-in drawers. Plush blue-and-copper armchairs have ottomans.
Marble bathrooms feature curved granite countertops extending the full width of the wall, along with designer toiletries, makeup/shaving mirrors, speakers, terry-cloth robes, and second phones. Most bathrooms have a separate tub and shower. Twice-daily housekeeping service is provided.

Dining
Bistro Bis - Politicians, powerbrokers, and entertainers are among the regulars at this see-and-be-seen two-level restaurant. French cuisine with a creative flair includes selections such as Sea Scallops Provençal, Steak Frites Béarnaise, and Onion Tart Alsaciènne. Bistro Bis is accessible from The Hotel George lobby, and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Recreation
The Hotel George, a Kimpton Hotel has a 24-hour fitness center with separate steam rooms for men and women. In-room spa services can be arranged, including facial treatments and massages.
A great walking and running route begins at the Capitol (about 3 blocks from the hotel), then rounds the Reflecting Pool—where politicos are often seen jogging—and continues along the National Mall (slightly more than 1 mile).
South of the Washington Monument, the Tidal Basin has paddleboats for rent, plus popular walkways that offer picturesque views and access to the Jefferson and FDR memorials.

“Very comfortable & convenient”
The hotel is in the center of all the activities in D.C. The staff were very accommodating and pleasant. The room was comfortable and you didn't have that feeling of getting lost amid a huge hotel. I would definitely return.

“met all our expectaions”
We took our 10 year old grandson for his first trip to Washington, DC and loved the location of this hotel. Union Station has alot to offer and the proximity to the Metro was a real plus. We especially enjoyed the America restaurant. The hotel staff went out of their way to ensure that all our needs were met. The beds are very comfortable. Our room was a little smaller than other hotels we've stayed in but we were there for the museums, monuments, etc. We would stay there any time we go back and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Great Hotel”
This hotel had a great location, close to the capital building and the Union Station. The service and quality of the rooms was great. I travelled with my wife and 2 kids and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
“Great place to stay”
This is now the third Kimpton Hotel my wife and I have stayed at and it didn't disappoint. The room was large with a huge, comfortable bed and was equipped with everything you could want. Didn't interact much with the staff, but they were very pleasant when we did. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from Union Station and about a 5 minute walk from the capital building. It's a little bit out of the way, but if you don't mind the walk, or want to hop on the subway, it's really not a problem. Bistro Bis attached to the hotel is very nice, we had breakfast there both days which was good and reasonably priced. Dinner is a little pricier, but it was also pretty good. The fitness room had been recently refurbished and was pretty decent as far as hotel gym's go. We would definitely recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.

It was clean and the people were friendly and it was close to the mall and union station and there's a great restaurant around the corner called ___??____halfshell next to the CNN offices
“Great Location”
I really liked this hotel it is close to everything! Union Station is across the street so you can get anywhere in D.C. quickly or you can walk to see many historical sites. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and pleasant.
“Excellent Hotel”
Although I only stayed one night in this hotel, it was a very well mantained and manged hotel. The aminities were superb and the staff were very friendly and knowledgable. The rooms were emaculate and the overall quality is unsurpassed.
