Great Bed!

Posted 19-Dec-2014
Pros: The bed. The location. The concierge. The cleaning staff.
Cons: They could do a bit of work on the tiles around the shower, but maybe it was just my room.
Location: The Hamilton (restaurant). Sightseeing: the National Mall + the White House (you can see the sniper on top of the White House).
The bathroom showed a little bit of wears and tears, so that is the only reason I am not giving five stars across the board. The bed was the most comfortable bed I had ever slept in at a hotel. I am exceedingly tempted to buy the bed from their Web site. They gave me complimentary bottled water whenever I asked for some. The location is excellent. My friend and I walked to the White House and the National Mall straight from the hotel. The concierge was exceptionally helpful: he even gave me change for my $20 out of his own pocket. The room was very clean. Some other five-star hotels I had stayed at had dusty floors, but this one seemed clean. I want to visit D.C. again in the spring, and I will for sure stay at this hotel again.

Nice Hotel, Great Location, Excellent Staff

Posted 11-Dec-2014
Pros: Location and staff.
Cons: Rooms could use some updating and be cleaner.
Sofitel Lafayeete Square is in a great location whether for business or tourist. Hotel condition is very nice and the staff are very responsive and helpful. However the room was a little tired and was dissapointed that for a top tier rate, the room location was lower level near street noise and only contained basic amentites that you could find at other locations for half the price.

Well maintained, upscale hotel near White House

Posted 10-Dec-2014
Pros: Location, atmosphere (upscale but not snooty). Fast elevator. Mostly great staff who are very nice.
Cons: Closet space if they ever do a makeover of room I was given. Chairs and rug in my room looked well used and a bit "tired".
Location: 15th and H, not far from the White House, and Lafayette Park. Walk to Metro or walk to Mall if you don't have mobility issues. Restaurants nearby.
Pleasant staff (mostly, read on) in a well maintained hotel in a good location for walkers doing the tourist thing or using the Metro (2 minute walk to entrance). Modern room with moderately upscale (not posh) vibe. Rug could use replacement. Bed OK, but not the most comfortable I've ever encountered in a hotel. Pillows very soft and not supporting. This seems to be a trend in the industry. Very quiet (to external noise) in interior courtyard facing room. Restaurant, bar, and desk staff efficient and polite. Doorman attentive. The only negative was the staff slamming hallway storage room doors (with enough noise and force to shake my room) and commenting loudly among themselves. Happened only a few times but was noticeable. Housekeeping in room was OK. Closet space in the superior King room as they call it the smallest I've ever encountered, and seemed designed for a single night stay by a business suited guy with one change of shirt and tie.

Staff were exceptional. They went out of their way to assist us with our 10 month old son when an unexpected situation arose.

Booked a luxury 2 bedroom but was upgraded to a suite via Expedia +. Very polite and attentive staff. We dined in the hotel for most of our stay and food was of great quality. It may lack facilities like swimming pool, spa, etc. but we knew about this before going in. Overall great stay and would come back again if we are in DC.

Great hotel - conveniently located for my DC work.

Posted 26-Nov-2014
Pros: Convenient location and excellent value for the Monday before Thanksgiving.
Cons: Lighting in the room. I had to run all over the room figuring out how to turn lights on and off.
Location: Good location, excellent restaurants in walking distance.
It was good. I arrived and checked in. Went to my room to drop off my bag and then went across the street for an excellent diner. Returned to the room after dinner, struggled with multiple light switches in the room a bit and then turned in. Got up the next morning and checked out. It did the job I needed and was clean and conveniently located.
