Convenient, comfortable, excellent!

Posted 26-Jan-2015
Pros: Just about everything, except the closet was too small (see below).
Cons: The newly refurbished closets have very limited hanging space (12-15", I would estimate) - not enough for a couple with clothes for 4 days.
Great location. Rooms were newly refurbished, very clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable.

Washington DC Dream

Posted 13-Jan-2015
Pros: The location was excellent! The room was huge and comfortable. Nice view of the city. Comfy beds. TV was huge and many modern ameneties were provided
Cons: Coffee makers in the rooms perhaps? Even though free coffee was offered downstairs, sometimes it's easier.
Location: It was within walking distance to the monuments, the museums and just blocks from the White House. We had many meals in China Town, which wasn't far.
The staff was wonderful, and accommodating. Our newly renovated room was perfect. The hotel bar was fun to visit. The location was ideal.

Under construction.

Great central location. Hotel is under construction, intermittent hot water, tv not functioning properly, hammering, grinding, stench of burnt metal...basically a construction site. Enough said.

Always good to be back here.

As a VIP+ Member, the free upgrade to a Luxury Room and free WiFi were greatly appreciated. The newly renovated room was lovely and very comfortable. Excellent staff on-hand to provide Keurig coffee machine and a mini-fridge. Excellent, quiet location in the MacPherson Square area. Close by to the Metro and busses. Good to be back here again.

Great Hotel in a Great Location

Posted 28-Dec-2014
Pros: Location, quality of hotel
Cons: More of a selection from restaurant
Location: White House, McPherson Square Metro, Old Ebbitt Grill restaurant,
This was our first time staying at a Sofitel hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous, the rooms are very comfortable and clean, and the location can't be beat. The White House is just around the corner and very close to all of DC's main attractions as well as the metro station (McPherson Square Metro) . We ate in the hotel's restaurant for breakfast which was just okay and nothing over the top except for the price $$$$$. I would suggest to try eating somewhere else if you are looking for a more reasonable price and more of a selection. We had drinks and appetizers in the hotel bar, Le Bar. The food was good and atmosphere very quiet and relaxing. All in all, we would definitely stay at the DC Sofitel if and when we ever return. Thanks for such a great experience.

Excellent experience at D.C. Sofitel

Posted 27-Dec-2014
Location: I recommend "Joe's" restaurant across the street--excellent steaks, just as in Chicago. We were able to walk to several plays and films.
I had reserved a regular room but upgraded before arrival. No problems doing that; added an additional person--no problem. Had gotten breakfast included and the second person was just added on, at no addition charge as far as I could tell. The suite was pleasant. Did not have a 'view' but I was not at that price level either. Service was excellent; breakfast choices generous; bar with atmosphere and great service. My only complaint: minuscule closet. Two people cannot hang their clothes in that space, even if it is for a three-day week-end.

Great Bed!

Posted 19-Dec-2014
Pros: The bed. The location. The concierge. The cleaning staff.
Cons: They could do a bit of work on the tiles around the shower, but maybe it was just my room.
Location: The Hamilton (restaurant). Sightseeing: the National Mall + the White House (you can see the sniper on top of the White House).
The bathroom showed a little bit of wears and tears, so that is the only reason I am not giving five stars across the board. The bed was the most comfortable bed I had ever slept in at a hotel. I am exceedingly tempted to buy the bed from their Web site. They gave me complimentary bottled water whenever I asked for some. The location is excellent. My friend and I walked to the White House and the National Mall straight from the hotel. The concierge was exceptionally helpful: he even gave me change for my $20 out of his own pocket. The room was very clean. Some other five-star hotels I had stayed at had dusty floors, but this one seemed clean. I want to visit D.C. again in the spring, and I will for sure stay at this hotel again.
