“Classy Hotel...a definite must.”

Sofitel Washington Lafayette Square is centrally located downtown Washington, just a few blocks from the White House and other main historical sites. Close to cafes and restaurants and the subway was near by. The doormen and the front desk clerks were always gracious and curtious. This is a definite a classy hotel......

“Wonderful Hotel and Great Location a couple from Toronto, Canada.”

The hotel is in a great location. If you land at Regan Airport (DCA) take the blue metro line from the airport to the hotel (3 minute walk to the hotel). We arrived early and were checked in at 11:00 . The room was beautifully appointed and the bed, sheets and pillows are fantastic. We were here for 4 nights and walked everywhere. The Metro is a a superb subway system. We walked to the National Mall, White House (.04 km away), and all the memorial and monument areas. We felt safe and secure at all times of the day and night. We would walk from 09:00 to 23:00 hours. The 05:30 Easter service at Arlington Cemetery is recommended. The hotel is excellent and so are the staff. You must have drinks outside and in the bar at the hotel as it is a fun atmosphere (a little expensive but generous drinks ). We always got back too late to have dinner at our hotel so we explored other areas. There is a great Italian restaurant kitty corner to the hotel, Potenza, which has great food, prices and atmosphere, in the dinning area, at the bar and outside bar/dinning. Also eat at The Capital Grill (expensive but worth it). We walked to there for dinner from our hotel (a long walk at 22:00 one evening to Penn and 5th) but Washington at night is beautiful. We are a 58 year old couple and will be back to Washington to see what we couldn't see our first time AND we will stay at the Sofitel again.

“Great location, comfortable hotel”

Loved the location, within a 5 minute walk of a Metro station and within walking distance of many sights. Was a little disappointed at the limited number of other restaurants in the area, but that seems to be the way Washington DC is laid out, and certainly not the Sofitel's fault. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room comfortable and very clean. My only disappointment was the lack of tea/coffee facilities which other hotels in the area do seem to offer. And my personal plea to all hotels everywhere ....please include wireless internet.... if Starbucks can do it, so can you!

“Ideal for seeing Washington on foot”

Ideal location for those wanting to tour the city on foot. One block away from McPherson Square Metro and the Whitehouse. Great restaurants and shopping areas nearby.

Amazing hotel. Service was excellent and efficient. We were in D.C for our 10th wedding anniversary and they arranged to surprise us with a cake in our room.

From the moment we arrived until we left the staff's interest in our comfort and satisfaction was very evident. We called the front desk for support and they responded within minutes. A terrific hotel and location, which I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Washington. The location is very close to the White House and a short walk to The Mall. Very enjoyable!

“Conveniently located friendly hotel”

All the staff were very friendly. The only problem we experienced was with the size of the clothes closet in the room we were assigned. The closet was very small and it also stored the iron and ironing board.My husband and I had reserved a room for 3 nights and were travelling on from there. The closet was not large enough to hold our clothing and after some lengthy discussion with the hotel staff we were given a room with a larger closet as well as a rolling clothes rack.
