“Very nice hotel convenient to Capitol Hill, Union Station.”
Stayed here for two nights. Very nice property, a bit older with some quirks. Elevators were small and one was down when I checked in on Sunday night. Room is small, work space is minimal. Offsetting this, location is wonderful, in full view of Washington Union Station. Relatively easy walking distance to Capitol Hill and congressional offices. My room was on top floor, with large window overlooking the station, very nice. Room was very clean, very comfortable bed. Friendly staff, good breakfast in cafe downstairs. Other than slightly snug room size, no real complaints, would stay here again without any concerns.
“highly recommend”
Location was best thing. 1 block from Union Station.Beds were great and bathroom spacious.Only minus was the beds take up most of the room and there is not much room to walk around but other than that, it was great.Restaurant downstairs (Dubliner) was wonderful and very convenient.Breakfast a little pricey but good.As soon as you walk out the door you can see the Capitol down the street. Free wifi in room.
“The Best Place to Stay Ever”
I have used expedia for many trips and the hotels for the most part was a hit or miss. but this hotel was the bomb and i would stay there again and no where else I cant say enough of goof things bout the staff and the hotel along with its perfect location. my destination when in DC is this wonderful hotel
“This hotel was our oasis”
Perfect location We were just a few steps from Union Station and the Capital Building. Even though this is an older hotel, the room was spotless and the service was very good. we only had 2 complaints. One was about the mini bar. We just could not get it though to the vendor our preferences. We ended up finding a liquor store and purchasing our own. We did spend time and money at the resturant/bar on the bottom floor of the hotel, but we were on vacation and wanted to relax in our room some. Our other complaint was about the construction next door. We had to keep our eighth floor curtains closed most of the day, so the workers could not see in. But all in all, extremely well worth it.
“Great location, nice old hotel, fun restaurant”
Phoenix Park is a nice older hotel with an intimate feel and a great location across the street from Union Station. It's an easy walk to the Capitol and the Mall. Plus, the Dubliner Restaurant is in the lobby with a great old Irish pub feel, a nice patio, good food, and live music everynight. I would recommend it as a convenient, fun, and affordable place to stay.
“Extremely pleasant + close to train station”
We enjoyed everything about the Phoenix Park Hotel, and were particularly impressed with an extra service the hotel offered while we were there: continental breakfast. When we arrived, we were told there was no complimentary breakfast, but several hours later we received a letter from the hotel (dated that day) announcing that complimentary continental breakfast would be available for the following few mornings. We REALLY appreciated this extra service, and the breakfast -- a modest mix of pastries, coffee, etc. -- was delicious! We guessed the apparent change was due to the holidays (the first morning in the breakfast offering was Christmas Eve). Thank you Phoenix Park!
“Phoenix Park Hotel”
The Phoenix was absolutely the best location ever, right across the street from Union Station and a short walk from the Mall and museums. The Dubliner Bar in the lobby was great, good music on the weekends, a real DC institution from what I understand. Great breakfast. My only complaint was that we were between seasons, and it was a bit warm at night. The maintenance engineer said "the AC is older than you and I both," and that was his response to warm nights. The room was lovely, great service.
“United States”
Great location, clean room, surprisingly nice workout facility and a good Irish pub! Right on the metro and Amtrack - would definetly stay again.
“Very impressed.”
Hotel was very nice. Pillow top mattresses were just like at home! Location was excellent; 1 block from the Capital and Union Station. About 1 1/2 - 2 miles to the National Mall if you don't mind walking. Two women alone felt very safe. Restaurant located right off the lobby..a little pricey but very convenient. Just wished they'd had a vending machine for pop or bottled water.
“Phoenix Park Hotel Convenient Location”
The Phoenix Park Hotel is just a short walk from Union Station and is a friendly well staffed hotel. The rooms vary in size and luxury. I chose a room on the low end of the price scale and although a bit small compared to other similar rooms I have stayed in, it was comfortable and clean. There is a restaurant/Irish pub on the first floor where I dined the two evenings I was in town. I found the menu to have a variety of appealing selections and a weekend special menu that was impressive as well. The food was very good and the prices were more than reasonable. In nicer weather you can chose to dine outside. I found the breakfast menu to be interesting but thought it overpriced, though I had no complaints about the food. The only other thing a bit curious about this hotel is its tendency to price hotel rooms based on single occupancy. I find this practice a bit unusual and uncommon in the area. Therefore look closely when you are considering prices, there is an additional charge for a second person in the room. I would stay at the Phoenix Park Hotel again and feel confident recommending it to other travelers.
