“We have new friends in DC”
Lydia and Keith provided a warm, comfortable, and especially friendly place for us during our recent stay in Washington DC. They supplied dining ideas and sightseeing options to really make our vacation special. It was a pleasure from start to finish!
“Lovely restored period home in downtown Washington”
Very nice place in a lovely restored home. Keith and Lydia couldn't have been nicer. Even took me back to Union Station after my stay.
“A Surprise treasure in a great location”
Delightful hotel I found by accident by looking at major hotels in the DC area. I am a business traveller, not a B and B seeker, but I have enjoyed stays in B and B-s around the country. Price was great compared to the big ones, and it looked nice, so I thought I would give it a try. Was I glad I did. Charming people, amazing furnishings and interior details. Updated technology and bathrooms, comfortable rooms and beds. Really, a nice place that I will return to visit (in fact, I tried right away, but my dates were not available, they run about 95% full, so book early and often). The neighborhood is a little run down, when you see people in the yards, they don't wave back, but they don't threaten you, either. However, the location is fine, very close to attractions and close enough to businesses. They have two parking spots, and if you return late, you can find something close on the street. Best of all is the breakfasts. I am a light breakfast eater, but the feast set before me was more than tempting. Fresh fruit followed by home baked meats and eggs and trimmings. And conversation with the lady of the house and roomers. Everyone is happy. And that says a lot.
“Beautiful place, Beautiful people”
We couldn't have been more satisfied with our stay. The location is great, the house is awesome, and the hosts (Keith and Lydia) couldn't have been more friendly or better hosts. The rooms were clean and well decorated and it was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. All of this at a great rate! If you're going to Washington this is the place to stay!
“Daniel - Austin Texas”
Great place to stay!
“Home away from home”
Stayed April, 2012. The host is extraordinary, the amenities excellent, the breakfast superb, the location convenient. A couple of blocks from the Metro, a short cab ride to any place, a short walk to some pretty good restaurants and bars--and the owner can guide you to most of them. One thing to know is: the rooms are upstairs and there is no elevator. We met all the other guests during our stay; and all said they'd never stay any place else in DC. My wife and I agree.
“Great Value for Money”
After seeing the good reviews on expedia and other sites we decides to stay here, we were not disappointed. Keith and Lydia were fantastic hosts and were incredibly helpful with tips on getting around and where to eat, to ensuring we were picked up by the shuttle service at the end of our visit. Breakfast was delicious and the decor beautiful. Great value for money and much better than staying at a hotel. If we ever get the chance to return to Washington Mt Vernon will be our first choice for accommodation. The B&B is situated north of the main tourist area but is within easy walking distance of the metro station. TIPS: Take the metro into the centre - cheap and quick and saves your feet for all the walking around the Mall and museums. Take the metro up to U street and try a half-smoke chili dog at Ben Chili Bowl and see the photos of the celebrity customers such as Obama and Denzel Washington.
“Pleasant spot, nice alternative to BigBox hotel chain”
I was pleasantly surprised by this B&B at 400 M St. NW in DC. The proprietor Keith could not have been nicer. The place is quiet, and older property refurbished with all you need. Interesting bathroom fixtures, plenty of space, DirecTV, and full breakfast if you want it. The only little drawback is the location is a bit away from the business/govt district in NW, so you need a cab for a 6 min ride back and forth. They even had a parking spot for my car, off-street! I would stay again for sure.
“Washington Treasure”
Stayed at this B&B for one night while visiting Warner Theater. It was centrally located to downtown and access to the freeways which made getting in and out of DC easy if driving and cabbing even easier. Lydia and Keith made the experience comfortable and were wonderful hosts from beginning to end. I would recommend this place to all who are interested in being in the midst of it all without really being in the midst of it all.
