“Perfect location”

The hotel was clean and staff was very friendly. The bed was good and pillows weren't too bad, which issomething that can bug us if the pillows are huge and fat! The location is excellent. We took the Metro, used the food court below, got a 2 day pass for a sight-seeing bus that we got right out front and if we wanted to walk, we could walk to many sights. We were a little disappointed in the pool being closed but it was cold, so no problem. I really thought the staff was super-congenial.

“Am going back this weekend to shop....love the hotel.”

The people were very nice and were very helpful with directions, maps, tours,and taxis. I was given a room upgrade when I arrived to a room with a view of the Washington Monument and a balcony. I ordered breakfast in the room and it was delivered right on time by a very friendly server who set up the table in the room....the food is great! The Metro and shopping center below the hotel is nice and makes the visit much easier. I also love the fact that it is so close to the Smithsonian....a nice walk when the weather is pretty. I can't think of a better hotel for a visit to DC.

Area recommendations

The whole mall between the Washington Monument and the Capitol...of course, the White House and all of the museums along the mall. There is so much to see!

Getting around

Use the Metro or the tour busses. Taxis were less expensive than I thought they were going to be too.

“Will Stay There Again!”

I will recommend this hotel to anyone. The metro station is right below the hotel. Super easy and convenient. If you prefer to walk, this hotel is not far to many museums and monuments. The hotel room is in good size, nice furniture and clean. We are pleased to stay there.

Getting around

To get around Washington DC is quite easy. I suggest on your first day, you do a All-Day trolley ride (I recommend 'Old Town Trolley'; the tour guides are knowledgeable, nice and friendly) to get familiar with the area. It helps to know how close everything is so you can decide your route later. The rest of the time you can roam around via Metro; get an all-day pass for $9 (9:30am till the next day at 2:00am). Actually it helps a lot if you plan your trip prior to arrival, like emailing the congress member of your state to make arrangement to visit the white house, capital hill, library of congress etc. I hope you enjoy the city as much as we had. “Have already recommend L' Enfant Plaza Hotel to a friend.”

The staff was great. Very cheery and helpful. I had never been to Washington DC before, but can't wait to return.

Area recommendations

If you're going to see the nations capital to learn more about the history of America as I did, enbrace being a tourist. Take a camera, wear comfortable shoes. Take the bus tours and walking tours. The National Mall is wonderful with great museums and monuments at every turn. The little book shops and cafes in the Georgetown area are my personal favorites. The history of this area along with it's charming architecture can just take you into another world.

When to go

Winter rates are lower, and the crowds are there, but not as heavy as in the late spring or summer.

“impressed”

Really good hotel. But, no place locally to eat except the somewhat expensive hotel resterants. The food and service was good. A new mall is opening soon within the complex which should improve this problem.

“This is a great hotel!!!!”

All around great stay in DC! Hotel is clean, well staffed an very, very close to everything. Don't need a car! Metro station in the mall makes it easy to get just about anywhere, ther were always cabs waiting at the front door, or you can walk to a bunch of places, Excellent staff, no question went unanswered and they had great tips on dining, tours. etc. We will be going back!

Found many good pubs and restruants in the Chinatown area, easy to get to (METRO or cab) Great variety of foods and drinks, lots of nice folks enjoying the atsmosphere!!

“Up scale, nice resturants, tour bus right outside, central capitol hill location”

I have visited DC many times. My usual hotel was booked so we chose thisone because it is mid mall and only a few blocs from the action. Use a hop on hop off bus and you can't go wrong the bus stops right out front of the hotel. The price was a little high but since my friend and I split it we managed very well. Quiet, comfortable with a beautiful view from our balcony. The hotel was very clean and had an international flare.

Area recommendations

DC is a complex place. You need several days or many visits to do it justice. If you can plan ahead ,do it. Get a good guide book and use the hop on hop off style buses. The taxis are not too dear if you stay in the capitol hill area and you are in a hurry. You can see a lot in 3 or 4 days. Enjoy!
