The towpath along the 19th-century C&O Canal is popular for walking and jogging. Access is a half-block from the hotel. For a good walk that embraces both the quiet and bustle of Georgetown, guests can head north on 31st Street NW (2 blocks from the hotel). Stop by Tudor Place, a historic manor with exquisite gardens. A few blocks farther is the Dumbarton Oaks estate, where brick-paved paths wind through lavish floral displays, statuary, fountains, and pools. The route continues west on R Street NW, then south to lively Wisconsin Avenue, with its shops, antiques dealers, and cafés. At the foot of Wisconsin is the Potomac waterfront and the glitzy Washington Harbour development, with views of the Kennedy Center and the Watergate complex. The hotel is about 2 blocks away.

“Very nice hotel”
The only thing that was disappointing was the "continental breakfast".
“Great place”
Spacious room, great location, pleasant staff.
“Center of Georgetown”
Great location...ideal walking distance to everything in G-town and Foggy Bottom Metro Station. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was large and quite comfortable. Hermes products were an added benefit.
“Very nice hotel”
We typically stay at large chain hotels, but we chose this hotel based on it's location. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was top notch, very clean, well decorated, and huge (with a separate sitting area and a large bedroom). The location is also excellent, right in the heart of shopping and dining, and right on the busline (DC Circulator) which will take you into the heart of DC. We will definately stay here again on our next visit.
“will stay there again”
We loved the hotel, rooms were large and comfortable. Great location. Definitely going to stay there again!
“A real gem - loved it!”
The Hotel Monticello was just great - a real gem. It is situated in Georgetown close to lovely restaurants and shops. The 'Circulator' stop is at the corner - $1 will get you a quick trip into Washington. If you are feeling energetic it is a pleasant walk. The room was lovely - very comfortable, spacious and clean. A continental breakfast is included and the staff were efficient and helpful (especially the very friendly doormen!). We would happily recommend this hotel and will stay there again on our next visit to Washington.
“Wonderful!”
Well worth the money. Centrally located, courteous efficient staff, wonderful room, everything as promised and then some.
“Great hotel in a great location!”
We were thrilled with our stay at this hotel. Great location with lots of fun things to do in a short walking distance. All the major embassies are close by if you have business there. If you are a National Park lover, this hotel is convenient to the Old Stone House, the Canal, and Rock Creek Park, and close to all the major DC Parks. There is a bus that is cheap and convenient that stops at the end of the block and runs throughout the city.
“fantastic”
everything about this hotel was great, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. we spent the last three nights here after touring virginia and found the georgetown location great for shops and restaurants.we actually felt as though we were in on a secret and we loved the hermes and the bathrobes ahhh someday we shall return to dc and certainly the monticello.
“Great experience”
Perfect location - right in the center of the Geogetown shops and waterfront dining district. The hotel was just right, not too flashy, but had everything we wanted - a very large comfortable room w/ frige and m/w, free business center with internet access and printer, very friendly staff, and a complimentary continetal breakfast each morning. Would definitely go back.
