“avoid the mega-hotel maze”
Boutique charm in the heart of DC... a very pleasant alternative to the standard large business oriented hotel... great staff more than compensates for lobby clutter due to renovation.
“Hotel Madera, Washington D. C. May 2012”
We've never stayed at a Kimpton property but I will definitely look for another one wherever I travel. Loved the coffee in the morning, wine in the afternoon, and the adjoining restaurant (Firefly) was great. The staff and guests were all very friendly and helped make the stay that much better. Thanks for a great experience
“Great weekend stay in DC”
The Hotel Madera is lovely and in a great location. They upgraded us to a king room w. balcony (we didn't request this treatment but we were delighted at the view of the neighborhood and the light in the morning). The only reason we gave room comfort four stars was due to the odd bathroom, which was quite small compared to the very spacious room; it wasn't a problem for us generally, with only two, but it might be for a family. Firefly is a very nice restaurant choice, even with the many options in the area. The hotel was perfect for a quick weekend stay in DC and consistent with the high quality of both property and service we have come to expect from the Kimpton brand.
“Dupont Circle - Great Convenient Location”
Great hotel, great location, great restaurant downstairs and good service. It's a really great area of DC and you can walk everywhere and to the metro.
“Will be back”
Hotel was a big surprise, a good one. Lobby was shabby and little dirty, but our room was a great. Large, appointed areas for dressing, office. Comfortable beds. Room was quiet and clean. Newly renovated look. Very, very friendly service, homey feeling. Location was great. We were so positively surprised, that we'll be there again, when going to Washington DC. Thanks
“Kimpton's Hotel Madera was an excellent experience”
This was my first stay at a Kimpton hotel and I am now a real advocate of the company. The Hotel Madera is in a great neighborhood and is extremely well done. The staff is always attentive and the little extras really make the stay. Enjoy the free wine bar.
“Definitely Stay”
A beautiful hotel, very comfortable and spacious and close to everything
“Large room, small bathroom”
Very large room, but small bathroom--very comfortable bed.
“Will defininately stay next time in DC”
The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was large and very well appointed. My daughter got to have her first room service meal. (mac cheese from the restaurant no less!). Overall it was a lovely place to stay.
“Friendly , Fun and Green”
I liked the uniqueness of this hotel-- built in an old apartment building, some spaces were tight, but it gave it personality. Their Internet worked all the time and was fast, which was so nice! They use eco-friendly products and organic coffee and teas, which I appreciated. In the morning, they had the coffee and tea service, the one afternoon we were there, they had frozen lemonade popsicles for us (it was hot!), from 5-6 p.m. the served wine and later at night they had Oreos and milk. We didn't make all of these, but when we did it was fun. The front desk staff were really helpful and always smiling. They were good for restaurant recommendations, calling taxis, and holding our baggage when we had a few hours to kill before leaving for the airport. I would go back, but I would also consider trying one of the other Kimpton hotels since they all seem to have a unique flair to them.
