Living in an artwork – an experience “extraordinaire”. The new Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom in the heart of Vienna offers all the luxury you have ever dreamed of!
An outstanding contemporary addition to the Viennese landscape, Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom was designed by world-renowned French architect Jean Nouvel. The edifice celebrates light and reflection, playing with relationships between interior and exterior. Sleek façades of white, black, and grey offer a preview of the likewise monochrome guest rooms. To complement this purist esthetic, Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist has created bright, multi-colored video-animated ceilings, and French landscape architect Patrick Blanc has planted a magnificent vertical garden, a “living” wall covered with 20,000 species of vegetation.
Crowning the Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom is its ultimate feature, Le LOFT Restaurant, Bar & Lounge on the 18th floor, walled in only by glass. Floating above the city and colored by a painted mural ceiling by Pipilotti Rist, it provides the perfect setting for an unforgettable dining experience. Chef de cuisine Raphael Dworak implements the concept of 3-starred French chef Antoine Westermann and serves the best of French and Austrian flavours. The best way to become «The place to Be».
Flirt with the Vienna horizon as you unwind after a day of work or touring, at Le LOFT Bar & Lounge. Come and enjoy the panoramic views and relax after a long day. Choose your pleasure from among a plethora of flamboyant cocktails and a large selection of fine wines and champagnes from around the world.
Whether you are looking for a nutritional breakfast, a quick snack at any time of the day or would like to enjoy a special Viennese coffee, the Le K-Fé is a charming and elegant place to relax.
On a total of 745 m² So Spa in Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom offers a fitness studio, five treatment rooms – single as well as partner rooms – two steam rooms, 2 spacious whirlpools and a relaxation room with a breathtaking view of St. Stephan’s Cathedral. Ceilings with artistic background lighting and colourful LEDs create a relaxing ambience. The fitness area, So Fit, provides a series of machinery so you can get back in shape and feel good again, a Technogym at the latest standard of design and technology. The Spa will open on April 17th, 2011.
On the mezzanine level the Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom offers a business lounge and a comfortably furnished library space. For distinctive business or celebratory events, select any of our 9, naturally lit, audio- and video-equipped, modular meeting and banquet rooms for up to 130 people. Throughout each stage of your event, you will be assisted by our Sofitel Inspired Meeting Concierge who will help to tailor our products and services to meet your exact needs. A matchless venue for an outstanding effect.

“Shades of grey”
This hotel is an experience- the experience of being part of an art installation! It is essentially shades of grey and blocks of shape; no curves, no pictures, no plants. To be fair there is the contrast of some shiny black and the white towels but absolutely no colour except for the huge painted floating ceiling on the very top floor of this tall building and the canopy at the entrance. Definitely well worth a look. The staff were very friendly. Vienna is immediately outside so I didn't eat in the hotel at all. I used the fitness suite and my friend used the spa and we thought both were good. A luxury hotel that you can be lucky and get good deals on.
“Modern Hotel - Great Bed - Great Bar - Great location”
Really good hotel. Modern decor, very clean and spacious. Most comfortable bed I've slept in (apparently each bed is worth £3000 and can be purchased online - I'm considering it!) Architecture of hotel reflects tiling on Stephansdom. Brilliant panoramic views from room, from spa terrace and from restaurant/cocktail bar. Didn't try the food as it was expensive - but we only had to cross the road to get to town. Would definitely stay again.
“The best hotel you can go to in Vienna”
The Hotel Sofitel was amazing and made our trip. Its central to all the places you would want to go in Vienna with good transport links. The rooms are all great very stylish, modern (NOT hideously Ikea modern) and are technologically up to date . The 18th floor restaurant/bar looks really cool (like every part of the hotel) and has a great view of Vienna day and night. The Sofitel is a 5 star luxuary hotel which somehow has very cool modern edge. The service was great, all the staff are friendly and extremely helpful without invading your personal space or privacy. They help with almost every aspect of your trip from making reservations, booking tickets, advising/organising a day out and maps, directions and reccomendations. Obviously room service and dinner is quite expensive because it is a 5 star luxuary hotel. But we had breakfast there twice even though it was 29 euros each because they had more than enough food and it was of such good veriety and quality it was worth it. It is the best place to stay in Vienna.
“Impressive contemporary hotel in Vienna”

“Great hotel, clean, convenient,”
Cannot ask fo more, the only problem is wifi acces which was not stable, neither strog, had to go out close to the Danube to get a real strong signal,
“Excellent Hotel”
Excellent hotel in Vienna's centre, with comfortable rooms and an amazing breakfast service served on the 18th floor with really nice views of the city. Although the hotel is not on the Ringstrasse or directly on the saint Stephens its only 10 mins walk on foot or one stop away with the metro. All in all, an excellent modern hotel and a must stay in Vienna !
“This is a fantastic hotel”
We stayed at this hotel for 4 wonderful nights - it was so good that, had it not been for the fact that we were in Vienna, we might very well have not gone out at all! We had a Junior Executive suite which must have been 50-60m2 large with a bathroom which could be open-plan or closed off as required. The double bed was huge and unbelievably comfortable. The view across the city from our room was picture postcard perfect (at least from the 12th floor). The staff are extraordinarily friendly and helpful and always available.
“can't wait to go back”
awesome cool hotel. nice staff. great city.
“Best view in town”
Ultra modern hotel which felt like living inside a sculpture. A fine luxury hotel which provided for all of our holiday requirements. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent views across the city from many of the rooms but dependent on aspect. However the views from the 18th floor restaurant are simply breathtaking enabling the guest to see all of the major buildings of the city and as far as the Vienna Woods. Impossible to fault.
“An Excellent Hotel with Great Potential Impact for Vienna”
We have stayed in Vienna several times and always on the Stephansdom side of the small canal. The new Sofitel has chosen to locate on the opposite side and therefore is likely to favorably impact that area of Vienna tremendously. The hotel is rather ordinary on the exterior and very lovely on the interior. The restaurant on the top floor has a 360 degree of the city which is amazing. The rooms are done in modern black or white interiors with mirrors providing light and the feeling of spaciousness. I might suggest that the city could do much to enhance the walkway along the canal by cleaning the graffiti and adding plants and attractive places to sit. The hotel is also fully air-conditioned and while we were there the weather was unusually hot so this feature was most appreciated. The hotel has lots of nooks and crannies for sitting to read or do business via the in-house WiFi. We were there for several days and enjoyed our stay very much. We could not have asked for a more attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff.
