"Would definitely return"
I had booked the room 6 weeks before I attended a family wedding. As the Jazz festival was happening at the same time the island was fully booked. My daughter and I shared the two singles. I had read the reviews and knew the room and ensuite were small. The room was comfortable and clean. A well stocked coffee and tea tray. There was a view to the back of the property but to be honest we were there to sleep and spend time with our family. Sarah and Roy were lovely hosts. Sarah did not want to wake us when my brother arrived because she knew we had flown in from Canada and we had had no sleep! I don't know how anyone could complain about the breakfast! There was fruit, yoghurt and cereal and then a fantastic cooked breakfast made to order. It set us up for the day. On our last day we needed to be up early to catch the ferry to the mainland and get our flight back home. Roy and Sarah got up to prepare our breakfast at 7am and then Sarah drove us with our luggage to the ferry. Couldn't have had better hosts and would definitely go back. Have recommended it to my parents too.

"Excellent personal attention!"
We visited in the off season so we were the only guests. Christine was very nice and the traditional breakfast was great! Room was spacious and comfortable but the best of all was the bay window view of the water! The town and Rothseay Castle ruins nearby were fun to explore and I especially enjoyed being able to research my family history at the Museum near the castle!

"Very comfortable!"
This B&B was delightful. The property is set back from the road (which has very sparse traffic). Our first-floor room had a nice view of the sea. The bed was so comfortable it was a major effort to get out of it in the morning. The breakfast was very tasty (scrambled eggs with smoked salmon was one of many options). The hosts are very personable. There are a number of good restaurants an easy walk along the shore from the center of Rothesay.

"Gourmet food"
This is a nice hotel in a picturesque harbor of an historic sea town. We ate a gourmet dinner in the hotel restaurant and similarly had a delicious breakfast. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and attentive.

"Beautiful country house hotel on the loch shore."
We were disappointed we couldn't - we had the dog with us - stay in our chosen room (with a four-poster bed!) but the replacement room was comfortable and roomy. The food was excellent - better than excellent - and I'd return just for a meal! The hotel was right by Loch Long, with fantastic views across the loch. We were fortunate with the weather - we enjoyed a beautiful, sunny day in March!

"Striking building with stunning location"
Made to feel very welcome right from the start with friendly, helpful staff who were also very professional. Standard of accomodation was excellent. The hotel itself was warm and inviting with an open fire in the hall and the views from the dining room were quite superb. Beautiful grounds which would make the hotel a stunning venue for a wedding. The quality of food and presentation were both excellent. Can't fault anything.

"Budget short break. "
Being a very old building this hotel has its quirks and can sometimes seem a bit of a mismatch of modern and traditional but it's exactly what I expected from an old hotel providing a more modern approach to guests. Room was on the top floor overlooking the Gareloch and this gave a lovely view. Room was clean, warm and of the travel-inn kind of style. Was a bit concerned that the squeaky floorboards would be a nuisance to anyone below but other than that the noise didn't bother us. Bathroom was spotless as were all towels and bedding. Shower recess was rather small but did the job and when there was a problem with the showerhead staff dealt with it straight away. A very wide selection of good quality, reasonable priced food was available until 9pm and staff were very friendly and polite. Breakfast range was varied and food was to a great standard. The hotel looks a little tired in places but was by no means run down. If you can accept the characteristics of an old building then it's a lovely, friendly place to stay and is only a short drive from Loch Lomond (where accommodation is naturally more expensive) and a few other places of interest. For a short break on a budget it was perfectly adequate. Would be happy to book again.

"May look rough, but room was fine"
This room is above a busy street and commercial area. There were three of us and the room was had was great for us.; Large with separate bedrooms, a living room, full kitchen and a washer/dryer combo. Older and not necessarily fancy, or pretty, but it worked well for us as we appreciated the room and space to prepare for the next leg of our travels (were leaving for Iceland from Glasgow the next day). Parking is across the street in a public parking lot. It works for an overnight stay, but would be a problem if you needed to park there all day - you need to pay from 9 to 5 PM.
