“A jewel among the rugged West Coast of Vancouver Island”
What a find! From the impressive columns in the courtyard entry to the upscale hotel lobby, this hotel is a rare find in this part of Vancouver Island. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The room was lovely. It is brand new and they are still working out some kinks in the dining room (very slow but tasty). I would highly recommend this facility.
“Great experience!”
I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Friendly staff, wonderful accommodations, beautiful setting.
“Wonderful night in Sooke”
My friend and I stayed at the Prestige in early June, during the "soft opening" of the hotel. It is a beautiful building right on the water, and almost all rooms have a view of the sea. They are, of course, brandnew and very tastefully decorated, in earth colors and natural materials but very elegant. We LOVED the beds (mattress, pillows, covers, everything!!), the service was super friendly, we got great tips about where to go both from the reception and the wait staff, and the restaurant was outstanding. We had both dinner and breakfast there, both of wonderful quality and VERY reasonable prices. The setting and lighting is also great, both for late nights and early mornings. The restaurant has windows on three sides and there is a great view from every table. In short, we would have loved to stay longer, as this was hands down the best hotel on our trip.
“Great new hotel right in the center of Sooke”
Very impressed with this new (barely 6 months old when we stayed) hotel in Sooke, especially given the rate we got, which I expect may go up as they become more established. Excellent location right on the waterfront with whale watching and other activities right there from the Marina, and just a minute or two from the center of Sooke. Hotel rooms are modern and nicely equipped with a large flat screen LCD TV and another smaller one in the bathroom. Didn't try out the indoor pool, but like the fact it had one all the same, for next time. Restaurant was also very good and we ended up eating there both nights. Staff were great, although we didn't need to call upon them other than to check in and out. Would definitely recommend this hotel to F&F and would happily stay there again!
“Excellent choice and so glad we picked it.”
Beautiful property with the best location and views in Sooke. It was like walking into a Southern plantation style mansion. Lots of marble and granite. Beds extremely comfortable. The 3rd floor balcony rooms are well worth the extra money! Nice restaurant at this hotel but for the best food in town, eat at Mom's Cafe. Very retro, great food, large portions priced right.
“Beautiful hotel!!”
Beautiful hotel, worth booking a room with an ocean view.
“Exceptional hotel.”
This is a beautiful hotel and the manager and front desk clerk were very helpful. If one wishes to "get away" it is the perfect place. For some, it may seem too remote.
“Overall positive experience in new hotel”
This property is quite new, situated in a lovely location overlooking Sooke Harbour, across to East Sooke, and out to the Olympic Peninsula. Staff were courteous and attentive, dining room was decent (it's no Sooke Harbour House but then we weren't expecting that), and accommodations were quiet and comfortable. We had a third floor room with balcony, very roomy, two sinks and a huge shower enclosure in the bathroom, etc.. Our only complaints were 1) that the dinner chef seems not to have picked up on all the literature about the health-risks associated with excess salt -- two of our dishes, including the lava cake dessert, were so salty as to be bordering on inedible; and 2) the property wastes a lot of electricity leaving porch lights on all night and, worse, the window coverings (blinds) are not adequate to block the light from those lights -- if you like to sleep in the dark, we'd suggest you find somewhere else to stay. Overall, we had a very pleasant time and would not hesitate to return, though it is important to seek out a reasonable price -- the rack rates are ridiculous.
“Awkward”
The layout of the hotel is awkward. Elevators are far away from the front desk. The front desk is not at the front doors but rather across a huge room. The stairwells were far from the elevators. Getting to the undercover parking was through a maze of doors not labeled. The luggage racks in the room were so poorly constructed that they had fallen apart already and were not sturdy at all. There was no direct heat source in the bathrooms. Instead they were only on the far wall under the windows in the living space. There was no night light in the bathroom except for a mirror which illuminated by touch, if you figured it out. There was no sauna only a small pool and hot tub. The view of the harbour was wonderful. The room was large.
