“A good place to stay”

Under the same ownership as the seafront 4 star Savoia & Jolande, the 3 star Villa Igea is quietly situated about 100 yards inland in San Zaccaria Square. Ideally situated for the vaporetto stops and within a few hundred yards of St Mark's Square. A good breakfast is served either at the Villa Igea or at the Savoia & Jolande, depending on the season. Two small upstair terraces overlook the Square. Dinner is available in the S&J's restaurant on the promenade overlooking St Mark's basin at a 20 per cent discount, making it reasonable value (for Venice!)

“Great Service”

This is a smaller hotel, but the service that we received was definitely 5 star! The rooms are not very large, but this is pretty standard for Venice. If seeing the sights in Venice and exploring the city is what you are looking for, then I would reccommend staying at this hotel. They do have a good breakfast and this is hotel is easy to find off the bus boat.

“3 star and plus!”

Our room (702) had a great view across the quiet piazza Zaccaria yet just steps away from the bustle of Piazza San Marco and the Doge's palace, and Gran Canal waterfront where vaporetta stop takes you anywhere on Venice and surrounding islands and the airport (just an hour away and 13 euros one-way). The only minus point was the extremely expensive meals everywhere, be prepared to spend at least 25 euros per head for a lunch or simple meal. Unforgettable and romantic experience, but Venice is best for couples rather than children I feel.

“In spite of the high tide...!”

Midnight check in and unexpected high tide. Able to check in with dry feet because wellingtons were brought out to us on the promenade. Hotel delightful and staff very helpful.

“Great little hotel in suprisingly conveniant location!”

I chose this hotel as it seemed easy enough to find from the map offered on Expedia. I didn't want to stay right in busy San Marco, but at the same time, didn't want to be too far from everything (which isnt really pssible in Venice anyway!) But this hotel was perfect. Just off tht beaten path but incredibly easy to get anywhere. Close to great food, great shops and great sights! There is a Vaporetto stop within 2 minutes walking distance, Gelato in 5 and snack next door. The room itself was a bit small, even by italian standards, but with patio doors and a balcony we hardly noticed. Staff is very friendly and incredibly helpful. Breakfast was included in our room rate and on our final morning, we were leaving well before tbreakfast was served. We had checked at the desk and settled the account the night before (no 24 hour desk here - but there is at the sister hotel - one minute away). A knock at our door at 620am (we had a 6am wakeup call) was a member of the staff with a bagged breakfast!!! (which was delicious on the boat ride to the airport!) The ONLY downfall of this hotel - has nothing to do with the staff or the hotel itself - it is located in a small piazza with a church - where tour groups shuffle through and bells ring. this makes for very loud times (especially int he AM) but the doors (when closed obviously) have shutters and block a great deal fo the noise - but who hangs out at the hotel all day in Venice - no complaints here!!
