“Can't wait to go back”

This was a nice hotel. We stayed at the extension to the hotel around the corner from the main hotel. The room quite small but very nice and clean. The location of this hotel is optimal; near everything and a short walk to St. Mark's Square. The waiter's in the restaurant adjacent to the hotel (where the complimentary breakfast is served) were not very customer friendly; bordering on rude. I was a bit taken aback by the service but the staff in the hotel itself were very nice. I will stay at this hotel again but aside from the breakfast, will not eat in the restaurant again. Grazie.

When to go
I went in the end of April and the weather was fabulous; not cold not hold....just right.

“Nice Hotel, but small rooms”

The location was great, convenient to St Mark's Square and not a long walk, with our luggage, from where the water taxi from the airport dropped us off. The rooms are small, especially with all the luggage we had for a two week cruise, but clean. We had a window but our view was of a brick wall. We were only in the room to sleep so it wasn't a problem.

“Great location!”

It has a great location!!! Once you get off the vaporetto a S. Zacaria, you will see the Savoia & Jolanda right in front a little to the right... with a green canopy on the front... walk towards there and go down the ally right next to the entrance of the S&J. You'll see Villa Igea down the ally to your left. The room was spacious (for European standards). Breakfast was nice and plenty.

Area recommendations
Villa Igea is very close to Sr. Marks square... less than 5 minutes. SInce Venice is relatively small you can walk to any area... you'll get lost, but that is part of the fun... BTW, a great restaurante is La Zucca in Santa Croce.

“Convienient Little Find”

The Hotel Igea was a cute, convienient little find in the San Zaccaria - only a minutes walk from Grand Canal & St Marks. Great coffee shop next door. The room was a little small, the beds a bit hard & in need of some good pillows otherwise it was a relief to burrow away at the end of a hard hot day. The aircond was very welcoming and the staff wonderful. I would definitely go back. Dont bother with a daily vaporetto pass as everything is in walking distance except for the airport trips & other islands. Geta one off vaporetto ticket if required.

same as was so close to everything

“A very nice small hotel.”

Really enjoyed the staff, hotel, rooms, decor and location. It's a small hotel with nice rooms, a friendly staff, and nice breakfast in the morning.

Area recommendations
Venice is a must see. Everyone who likes the water and boating should visit. very quaint.
Getting around
Buy an extended pass for the boats and use them like a bus. Get on and off as many times as you like and enjoy the whole city. Very easy to enjoy venice walking too.

“Convenient ,little getaway”

Area recommendations
Just let yourself wander, with map in hand, and visit the areas of Academia,S. Marco and waterfront. Another day take a walk towards the Rialto bridge and either continue north or cross the bridge into S Paolo.(my wife's favorite.) You can't go wrong finding lonely streets that suddenly turn into piazza's. I enjoyed the Island of Burano with it's colorful buildings
Dining
Like anywhere you travel, you'll find the dining quite different. First, the Tourista menu available at most trattorias will give you a choice of 3 courses. First pasta, then meat, fish chicken( and thats all that will be on the plate), and then salad or soup. The better restaurants are found a bit off the tourist paths. If you like wine, you can order a 1/4, or 1/2 carafe of house wine that is quite inexpensive and satisfying. Make sure you read your bill and if it has a "servizo" listed- which is the service charge- and another charge for sitting outside, you don't have to leave much of a tip. We met some entertaining waiters and waitresses that deserved the extra tip. We found the pasta sauce to be outstanding ,but the bread to be lacking. The portions are smaller than you are used to. The little pizza spots and Gelatto shops are a must for the quick snack.

Area:

San Marco, Venice, Italy: San Marco (St Mark’s) is quintessential visitors’ Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
