“An outstanding value splurge!”

This hotel was a major factor in making our Venice stay a fantastic one! The dedicated dock from the airport is a great start, staff were friendly and accomodating and the hotel itself is dripping with decadent, authentic old-Venice character. All this with modern comforts subtly integrated in all the right places. One of the most memorable hotels I've ever stayed in. We even ate at the Met on our last night. Easily the best wine-pairing experience we've ever had (and we've done lots of these all over the world)! We were doubly amazed that such a good pairing was done exclusively with Italian wines. All in all a splurge - but one which left us feeling we acheived an outstanding deal at the end!

“Centre of the Action”

If you can afford to splurge, Metropole is worth it. It is old world luxury and service in the centre of the action just down from St. Mark's Square. The restaurant in the hotel is very fine (two stars from Michelin) but book dinner when you book the hotel, because it fills up weeks in advance. If you miss out on dinner, try to have lunch there--the experience and food (both rather unusual) are worth the price. The only downside are the thin walls in the rooms--bring earplugs in case the neighbours like their TV.

“Not worth a five star rating at all”

The staff were not caring at all and for a five star hotel, it was not worth the rating at all.
