Very good hotel in VenicePosted 28-Oct-2013
Superb location, gracious staff, though the concierge did not always give the correct information on sights. The hotel has an excellent restaurant. Nice room and bathroom, both very clean and large enough. Only complaint, there was no air conditioning, as hotel had turned it off, as October is considered to be winter....so it was quite hot in the room. I would still recommend this 4 star hotel.

Great hotel, but ought to be betterPosted 27-Oct-2013
Pros: Position, staff
Cons: In room facilities.
Location: Right on the waterfront between arsenale and San Marco. Very handy for the vaporetto.
It's a great hotel. Wonderful position, very helpful and friendly staff. This was our second time there in a year or so and I recognised all the staff. That's amazingly low turnover. However our stay this time was marred by two things. The wifi was non existent in our room and many other places. When you could connect, it was incredibly slow. I know you're not there for business but in this day and age a reasonable internet connection is a pre-requisite. The second downer was our bathroom. It was a combined bath and shower. I'm pretty tall and I couldn't fit in the bath and the shower wouldn't go high enough. When you pay as much as you do for this hotel, it should be pretty close to perfect.

10m Along from St marksPosted 7-Oct-2013
Reasonable hotel, but expensive for what you get. The lagoon view deluxe room, only allows you to see the lagoon from the raised balcony (which is nice). The facilities need a bit of an update, the shower head in room 401 need fixed and the bath is remarkably small. The promised free wi-Fi was pretty non-existent in connection and there was no tea or coffee in the room. The staff were very pleasant nd helpful.

Very nice hotel on the grand canalPosted 5-Oct-2013
Gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne since we were on our honeymoon! Shower was a bit small and short, but I think that's more of a Europe thing. Could be a little noisy on the canal at night, but can't beat the location!

Hotel on lagoon, close to St Marks Sq.Posted 16-Sep-2013
Pros: It has an excellent situation.
Cons: Better lighting, less heavy decoration.
Location: Ideally situated, right on the lagoon, close to St Marks Sq. A short walk to anywhere, so location cannot be faulted.
We found the hotel very dark and uninviting - the corridors have very heavy decoration, and minimum lighting. The room was small, with a side view over a canal. The hotel is obviously very old, with what some would call 'character'. We were not impressed, and would not return.

PerfectPosted 4-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
The Metropole Hotel is a perfect hotel in a perfect location. The breakfast is incredible. The room we had was on a side canal and we could also see the lagoon. The concierge staff was very helpful. It was old-fashioned and exotic in its decor. We loved our time there, and are already thinking of a return visit.

Pros: Location, decor
Great location but AC not adequate for August temperatures.
