“So central it couldn't be better.”

This was a great find and very reasonable given Venice prices. We were in the new wing, Room 52, and it had French windows and a small balcony, so lots of light. The service was good but the breakfast was average. There was fruit sporadically, sometimes just dry rolls or cake, other times croissants etc never eggs or cheese or meat. Inconsistent. But in all other ways a wonderfully central place and well managed.

“Good value for money in San Marco”

I stayed just one night in the Mercurio as I was in Venice on business but I was very pleased to have found it. It is just around the corner from La Fenice Opera House and very close, too, to the San Marco Villaresso vaporetto stop - and there is only one bridge to cross with your suitcase! The hotel is clean and quitet, and run by a friendly team. I had a very large double bed in a reasonably-sized room with two windows overlooking the courtyard. I had an excellent espresso coffee with my breakfast. I will certainly go back to this hotel.

the hotel was idealy situated only 5 mins from St marks square and the rialto bridge. the room was spacious - not like some venice hotels i have stayed in! reception desk very helpful and plenty of food to eat for breakfast which was included. the shower and bathroom were excellent and i would recommend this hotel to all

Nous sommes enchanté par l'hotel mercurio. l'acccueil est parfait, les chambres simples mais correctes. le personnel est disponible pour tout renseignements. hotel idealement placé et pas cher. Pour info, nous avons oublié notre telephone portable dans la chambre en partant, un simple mail et l'hotesse se charge de nous le renvoyer.

“Bargain Hotel right in the centre of things.”

Mercurio is about 10 mins from the main stops at St Marks Sq for the boats coming from the airport and we found it easy to find with the Fenice Opera house as a nearby landmark and some good directions on the hotel's website.. It is off the beaten track a little but perfect location for seeing Venice. Our Superior room overlooked the canel with gondolas meandering their way all day long. It was very good size with a balcony and two separate sleeping areas with a Queen Size bed and a sofa bed. Excellent clean bathroom and the room was tidied and beds made etc every morning. Breakfast was OK contenental fare. Overall cannot really fault this hotel at the price we paid and can highly recommend it for the budget traveller.

“Would go back! Great location! Walking distance from major hot spots in Venice!”

I traveled with my mom and sister and we were very happy with our stay at this hotel. While it is not a high star rated hotel, we weren't looking to pay that price. We wanted a comfortable hotel room, convenient location, kind staff, and a cheaper price. We found all of this at Hotel Mercurio. The staff was very helpful when we had questions about the city and was always happy to accomodate any of our needs. Most of all the location was FANTASTIC! I would say the showers are very small and the rooms aren't spacious, but we did have a 3 person room which may have been why it felt that way. But none the less, we were happy with our stay and weren't looking to stay in our hotel room much anyway, but rather enjoy our time in the city. This hotel met our expectations of what we wanted and were looking for. I would definately go back!

“Ok location, tiny bathroom”

Venice is a tough city to navigate if you're not familiar with it, and this hotel can be difficult to find if you take a wrong turn. That said, once we were familiar with the location we were able to get to either Railto or San Marco in about 5 minutes. The hotel itself was ok; the room was clean, the staff was helpful, and the breakfast was acceptable. Our biggest problem was with the tiny bathroom. I occasionally hit my head on the ceiling in places and would compare the shower to a stand-up coffin (about 1x1 metres). I would consider staying here again but would take a good look at other hotels nearer to the canal with larger bathrooms.
