This is probably a much better hotel in different circumstances. It was easy to find and in easy reach from the main canal and water taxis. Close to the main shopping area and many restaurants.
We did not get to use the garden and from the view from our window it did not look at it's best! There was work going on in the hotel which meant that when trying to get to reception to check out in the morning, we had to take a circuitous route which involved trying to carry my suitcase down stairs. I have bad knees and arthritis in my hands so this is not something that I can do easily and I chose a hotel with a lift for this very reason.
The rooms are a reasonable size and the beds were OK but there was only a net curtain at the window! Most hotels have blackouts these days and it is a basic requirement as far as I'm concerned, so I found that extremely annoying and would not stay there again for that reason alone. The room was also very hot and had no aircon despite the description saying that it did. We did get a fan from reception which was sufficient but again, not really acceptable.
The breakfast was OK, a large selection of an eclectic mix of foods, not great, but certainly something for everyone.
The staff were great. Very friendly and helpful, could not fault them.
