A little oasis in VenicePosted 11-Oct-2014
Pros: Location, friendly staff and good room sizes for Venice
Cons: Nothing. All s good for this class of hotel
This was our second time at this hotel. It's still just as good, the staff are terrific and friendly, just be nice to them and you'll get a cheerful reply always. Location is great, especially if you come by train or car. This is our favourite hotel in Venice.

We stayed one night after a cruise prior to our flight home. Staff was very helpful allowing us to maximize our time in Venice. Hotel is located walking distance from train station and was easy to locate.

Wonderful HotelPosted 26-Sep-2014
Pros: Ambiance !
Cons: Would have liked some type of small restaurant in the hotel. I understand their are plenty around but sometimes you just don't want go to out.
Location: Location was great just around the corner from Sant Laucia Station. 3 min walk.
The hotel was just wonderful, the staff had a sense of humor, nothing was to much trouble. Big bedroom that was very clean and great Airconditioning.

Perfect location for getting around Venice.Posted 12-Sep-2014
Pros: Cleanliness, location, staff
Location: Easy walking distance to water transportation and/or typical tourist destinations. So many restaurants and vendors nearby, everything one could want.
Staff was above expectations for meeting our every need, even providing breakfast on the morning we arrived.

Great hotel, great location!Posted 31-Aug-2014
Hotel Abbazia is a fantastic place to stay. The building is beautiful and clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It is located a convenient 10 minute walk from Venice bus station, and a 5 minute walk from the train station. The Vaporetto stop is a 2 minute walk away on the Grand Canal, which makes it really easy to get around Venice. The hotel is well located for the Ghetto area, and about a 30 minute walk from Rialto. Our superior room was large by Venice standards. The room was nicely decorated, there was a handy fridge and a TV (though we never used the TV). My wife and I stayed for our honeymoon and the staff made us feel very welcome indeed. Breakfast was a European style buffet with tasty pastries, meats, boiled eggs, cereals, pancakes and toast on offer. There was a good selection of teas, coffees and juices. We would certainly recommend this hotel, and we'd definitely stay there again.

friendly staffPosted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: Great location, charming historical hotel, and the lovely staff.
Cons: A little more attention could be paid to the cleaning - a clump of hair, not ours, was left in the corner of the bathroom. Being picky.
Location: Very close to the Grand Canal, restaurants, shops, and also to the St Luccia station for easy transport around Italy.
We were made very welcome by the friendly, helpful staff at Hotel Abbazia. The room, although very small, was comfortable and clean and the hotel garden and reception areas were charming places for an evening drink. The location, near the St Luccia railway station, and metres away from the Grand Canal, was very convenient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very conveniently situated hotel.Posted 23-Aug-2014
Pros: As above - most things.
Cons: A full length mirror in the bedroom. The bar opening hours were a little random.
Location: As above.
The Hotel Abbazia is a stone's throw from the main bus and train station and very close to the water bus. It's down a side alley and so is very quiet but still very close to all the attractions. The hotel itself is very old and quaint, full of character, rooms have been very sympathetically decorated. All very clean. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a lift but the porter is on hand to lug suitcases up the stairs. Beds very comfy, bathrooms have all you need. Only a tiny gripe - the bedroom could do with a full length mirror - ours didn't have one at all except for a small one in the bathroom - not enough for two ladies! Staff couldn't do enough for us - very helpful and very knowledgeable about water bus routes etc. Overall very pleased, would return.

Nice hotel, great staffPosted 19-Aug-2014
Pros: Staff and location and included breakfast, which was about the same as what other hotels offered.
Cons: The beds and pillows. There seemed to be no padding on our bed at all, I thought it was a box spring at first. The pillows are a bit hard too.
Location: right by the train station, many water bus stations, shopping and dining. You can get to pretty much anywhere in Venice from this hotel via waterbus.
The hotel did leave a little to be desired, but the staff and location make up for it! The staff was super friendly and it was right around the corner from the train station. Trust me, you will want something close to the train station. The roads are very narrow and there are tons of bridges to go across and hauling around luggage would make this very difficult.

Good hotel for airportPosted 13-Aug-2014
Pros: location for airport
Cons: Decoration a bit dated in style
Location: Only airport nearby
Free breakfast and transfer to airport. On main road, bus stop not faraway. A long way out of city for sites. taxi ride only cost 17 euro's from city centre. Very helpful staff

Simple but great location and fantastic staff.Posted 9-Aug-2014
Pros: Staff and breakfast
Cons: Rooms quite old fashioned but don't worry they are fine
Location: on the grandcanal with all of venice's attractions and a waterbus and gondola stop nearby
Venice isn't cheap that's for sure and this is quite a simple hotel for what we paid but it is central right on the grand canal and easily accessible on foot (but if you have a heavy case take the water bus rather than carry it over the bridge) The thing that makes this hotel as well as the good continental breakfast, period sitting room and tranquil garden, is the staff. All of whom were brilliant but one of whom - Mirko - stood out for being really helpful giving us great advice and saving us money and effort before during and after our stay.
