“Great location”
Excellent location - ideal for arrival and departure and easy to find. Could walk everywhere easily or catch a vaporetto. Garden was lovely and the hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas.
“Super hotel---not costly, great location”
The Hotel is very close to the train station and the buses that go to/from the airport, yet it is very quiet, tucked down a side street. You are also close to the water buses that take you anywhere you want to go. Staff is extremely personable and helpful in all aspects. Rooms are spacious (for Europe) and well kept, clean. Breakfast is a large continental, with great vareity. I would definately stay here again!
“Stay here!”
Loved it! Excellent location, walking distance from the train station. The hotel is in an old palazzo, very attractive. Our room was newly renovated, comfortable. The staff was very friendly and charming. Breakfast was great.
“Hotel Abbazia”
Rooms are simply furnished and well maintained the location is a little hard to find, the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and pleased to help in any way they could
“Abbazia - again!”
This was my third stay and it appeared that there had been improvements in terms of refurbishment and management. The staff were as helpful and extremely pleasant as always and the pluses of this hotel still remain: close to Santa Lucia, P Roma,Vaparetto, lovely garden and gorgeous ambience being a converted monastery. Breakfast very efficient and good but the coffee is awful, unlike previous visits - please attend to this!
“Superb hotel in Venice”
A really great hotel - if I ever go back to Venice, I will definitely stay here again. My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights in April 2012, and the Hotel Abbazia was the best part of our trip to Venice. The hotel is in a great location - 5 mins walk from the train station, 10 mins (with heavy luggage) walk from the bus and coach stops in the Piazzale Roma, and just 2 minutes away from one of the main vaparetto stops. Built in a former monastery, the hotel is not too big, not too small, and has real character to it. The room was a decent size, and was tastefully decorated in a traditional style. It's tucked away on a side street (though is really easy to find - check out the hotel's video on YouTube for directions), but isn't far from shops, cafes and restaurants. Initially I was dubious about staying in Cannaregio, thinking it would be too far from San Marco's, however, I really liked this district. It's 10-15 min walk to Rialto Bridge, and 25-30 min walk to San Marco's, but given how both of those areas were heaving with tourists, Cannaregio was a pleasant change (though it's no dull backwater area). The only downside was that our room was too warm - I think we were above the kitchen (though they have aircon), and the breakfast room is quite small (so was a bit packed during the 8.30am - 9.30am rush). However, the breakfast was so good (although just a continental breakfast buffet, I ate so much I didn't need any lunch!) that it made up for it.
“AMAZING HOTEL!!!”
Where do I start? This hotel is amazing and Matteo was wonderful and so helpful!! My Mother (74) and daughter (23) and her friend (23) and I shared a spacious room that had 4 beds. Windows opened up to the streets below. We were in a perfect location and the hotel even has a private water taxi that will take you to see where they blow the glass and a private tour is included. You are responsible for getting yourselves back but that was not a problem as water taxis are everywhere and the people there made sure we got on the correct one. This was my favorite hotel and favorite town on our 2 week tour. Lovely area to sit and talk and drink wine in the hotel.
“Great value for the money”
The staff was fantastic, good sense of humor and lots of good information on sightseeing. Breakfast was good, all the help could not do enough for us.
“Lovely hotel”
Great location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was small but very clean and quiet. Good choice at breakfast. Lovely bar area. Hotel had lots of character. Area quite pleasant - lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Hotel staff recommended a couple of restaurants which were not too 'touristy'. Would certainly stay in this hotel again.
“Close to Trainsation”
Rented Superior Room - lagrge Location perfect - close to train station (no taxi in Venice) Breakfast - not good(((
