“Charmed”
It was our first trip to Venice...in fact we are not very experienced travellers at all. Consequently finding the hotel late at night from Marco Polo airport was a little daunting. So we took up the hotel's offer of booking a water taxi. Expensive, but a great start to our break and we were glad we did it. It dropped us off within a stone's throw of Charming House, which was easy to find from the directions given. (Once I had figured out that what look like streets on Venice street maps are often just alley ways). We chose this hotel because the contemporary style interior, as shown on the web (Flickr and Facebook as well as Expedia), looked very much to our taste. We were concerned that the photos might have been taken a few years ago and it might not look so good now, but this wasn't the case. Or room was great, especially the shower room. Our only minor gripe was that we didn't have much success with the air conditioning, but that could have been finger trouble on our part, and we didn't bother to ask about it. Breakfast was excellent. Certainly didn't anticipate the egss and bacon. Great staff, too, and convenient positioning for the most famous sites.
“Lovely boutique hotel”
Hotel was lovely and it was good to be in a quiet area, away from the hordes of tourists, but still very accessible for everything - near to the accademia bridge. We were actually put in a room in DD694, a couple of minutes walk from the main hotel (they took our bags to the room and offered to provide breakfast in our room each day at no extra cost if we didn't want to walk over to main hotel). It was more like having our own apartment with keys to come and go as we pleased. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly (and spoke good english). Room was beautiful, bathroom was huge with lovely toiletries and candles. However, bath was small with a shower attached to taps and no shower curtain - in fact it wasn't very practical to shower and you don't always want a bath when Venice is generally hot and humid. That is my only complaint, however. I couldn't fault anything else and would definitely go back there.
“Location, location, Location”
We was very impressed with the charming house hotel. The location was perfect just off the beaten track but very easy to get to from Accademia or Salute water bus stops. We stayed in an independance suite which was just a very short walh away from the main boutique hotel at DD694. This was the first floor of an venitian house with a room overlooking the canal. The wow factor really hit home and the room and quality of the room was fantastic and like previous review you felt like you had your own private retreat from the usual hotel stay. In the morning you go to the hotel for a fab breakfast which was spot on and enough to keep you going for the day. The staff were just great always going out of there way to make sure you have a great stay and let you know the best places to stay. The only negative point is that the breakfast is from 9am to 1030am which is was a shame as we needed 2 early starts to go on a trip and leave for the airport which meant we missed out on the great breakfast. I am looking forward to visiting Venise again and would definately go back and recommend the Charming house to my friends. This was our Honeymoon from our civil partnership and was made to feel so welcome especially being Gay!!
“Lovely friendly hotel, great location”
This is a great place to stay if you're looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing, in a good location and with friendly welcoming staff. We really enjoyed our stay. The room (Room B) was nice, with a view and had everything needed. Venice is an amazing place, and this is a great hotel to have as a base to see the sights. Breakfast was lovely and served until 10.30am. The staff are very friendly and speak good english. Would recommend this hotel.
“Well named hotel”
Charming House is a delightful find and we would certainly return. The modern and stylish decor make a relaxing change from the usual Venetian extravaganza. The staff are delightful and couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel is in a quiet location but easily reached from 3 vaporetto stops. Our room had a small balcony looking over the gardens of the Guggenheim almost next door. It was very comfortable although the over bath shower was a bit cramped. A few minor niggles were the lack of bathrobes and slippers mentioned on the website;they are however available to buy at 55e. We failed to get replacement soap and had to rely on our own emergency supplies. Also the cupboards were rather dusty and the piece of silver paper I dropped on the floor on Monday stayed there the whole week! Overall however it was a most delightful place and heartily recommended.
“No Unpleasant Surprises”
We found the Charming House to be a worthy addition to the Hotels in the nicest corner of Venice, the Dorso Doro. Our room was in an annex and was very quiet and peaceful, overlooking a quiet canal. the breakfast was plentiful and, a rarity in Continental hotels, bacon and eggs available on the buffet side-board. Staff could not have been more helpful, one in particular speaking idiomatic, perfect English. WiFi Internet and a flat-screen TV with BBC World an added bonus. Quiet area, only distraction a demented artist tried repeatedly to get us to buy his (?) handiwork, close by the Peggy Guggenheim collection, a bit like the Ancient Mariner detaining the Wedding Guest. We learnt to ignore him as we walked past. Absolutely nothing to do with the Hotel, we put it down to 'These things happen'. Snow on the gondolas on New Years Day... priceless
“Venice Gem”
Excellent, design driven hotel in great location. Walking distance to all major attractions. A real piece of contemporary living in a magical city.
“pas mal mais un peu cher”
bien situé, acceuil charmant et de bon conseil pour les restos, mais mobilier qui vieilli mal...
