Close to everythingPosted 20-Oct-2014
Pros: It was easy walking distance to everything, Moxies is connected to it, the beds are incredibly comfortable, pool area is clean and good for kids.
Cons: The lighting in the bathroom needs to be improved, it is a bit dull in there over the mirror and makes it hard to do make-up etc.
Location: Good location. Shopping on Robson, Pacific Centre, BC place sports, Convention Centre
We usually stay around Burrard Street or in more upscale hotels but chose to stay here for the first time. We were surprised. This hotel provides great value for the price. The rooms are in great shape and have modern bedding and facilities. It was also the best sleep I've had in a hotel in Vancouver. Super comfy beds and pillows. The facilities are pretty good and I would definitely stay here again.

Close to the action if that's what you needPosted 20-Oct-2014
Pros: Beds were comfy. Moxies attached.
Cons: Cleanliness of room. Mirrors were not clean, we found someone else's earplugs on the floor, walls/ceilings could use a good wipe down in spots
Location: Shopping, galleries, hockey, concerts ... List goes on
The facilities where nice, fairly clean. Parking price $25/day a little bit much. Moxies restaurant on site is very convenient, they also served brunch. Room need a little better upkeep (cleanliness wise) but nothing major. Only complaint was that on check out day housekeeping walked into my room at 930 am. I called front desk (waited 5 mins before someone answered ... No exaggeration) and then was told that it was my fault for not putting the do not disturb sign on and off course housekeeping will start coming in as of 930am. Upon check the manager confirmed that none of that was true and apologized but that really ticked me off. Last thing when I say if you want to be among the action then stay here ... It was soooooo loud after the hockey game outside until really late and we were on the top floor. That's not the hotels fault but I should have considered that when booking. All in all, I would return just not on a hockey ... Concert weekend unless I was attending it!

probably not againPosted 20-Oct-2014
Pros: It was within walking distance to both stadiums. Location is very good.
Cons: overall condition of the room.
Location: close to BC Place and Rogers arena. There is also a casino and a few bars within walking distance.
We were looking for an inexpensive hotel near Rogers Arena for a Canucks game. If that's all you're looking for this fit the bill. But the hotel was not in good condition. The elevator was scary and did not look like it had been updated since the 70's. Our room was "clean enough" The thermostat on the wall did not work. The sign on the furnace said "use wall thermostat". No controlling the temperature in the room was not easy. Some of the outlets in our room did not work. The hallway in our floor reeked of weed! The also charge $25 extra for parking that is not included in the room rate. For my experience, it was just a buddy and I looking for a cheap place to crash after a hockey game. So it served that purpose.

Pros: Really close to everything, short walk to the everything you could want!, there's a great bar and restaurant downstairs.
Location: There's plenty of bars and other things nearby, hockey just down the road, bus to capilano suspension bridge and grouse mountain
We stayed here for a week after we did a tour, it was close to everything! the staff were friendly and very helpful

Good hotel for the money...Posted 17-Oct-2014
Pros: Great location. I really liked the restaurant/bar atmosphere at the hotel, it felt as it were it's own establishment.
Cons: The decor and such is outdated in common areas and in the rooms. It was clean however.
Location: Can't really beat the location. Within short walking distance to the sporting arenas, but also restaurants, drinking spots and shopping on Robson St.
My experience at Sandman started on the right foot. The front desk agent was pleasant and gave me a nice room after inquiring if there was a good vantage point to be placed in the hotel. I've found that if you book with expedia (as opposed to booking through the hotel directly), they are less likely to reward you with a better room or location. Overall I thought it was a good hotel for the money. Great location, on site restaurants and bar.

Great location.Posted 17-Oct-2014
Walking distance to Robson shops, hockey stadium, Yaletown, and Gaslamp. Caddy corner to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Go to the Christmas market if you're there in late November or December. The exterior could use a power washing but inside all is nice. Could not ask for a better mid priced hotel.

Have stayed at Sandman downtown several times, never disappointed. Friendly helpful staff

Good experience. Hotel close to lots of great amenities downtown. It was strongly advised that I choose to park in the secure underground at $20 per night as there was a high incidence of break-ins on street.
